This is definitely the toughest of the 3 nines, and also the toughest to walk, as stated in another review. The 2nd hole is a very pretty downhill par 3. Greens are pretty large and usually in very good shape, as is the rest of the course. Being 40 minutes away, I only play it after November 1st, when winter rates are in effect. Then you can walk cheaply anytime during the day on weekdays.

SVGC is a beautifully kept public golf course that features the area's best rates to my knowledge. I usually walk after twi light 12 on weekdays 15 Fri - Sun with 27 holes available.

Have always seen at least one White tail on the course, usually a bunch on the white course. Very relaxing surroundings.

With this years massive drought, the maintenance on this course is unbelievable. Lush green fairways show no sign of a lack of water as with several other courses I've played. FLower boxes, tee areas etc. make you feel like you are playing private course. Nicest public course I have played. If Westpark was not already declared as my home course, it would be SVGC...

This course hosts a lot of tournaments, but always has at least nine holes that are usually open.

Nice course with tight fairways, will challenge the golfer with no control off the tee.

Shenandoah Valley, as stated in the prior review, offers three sets of nine holes. I played the Red and Blue courses. I liked the Red course (reviewed seperately) slighly better scenic wise (the mountains were obscurred by fog). Yet every hole is set up nicely with well defined fairways, nicely cut rough, and enough trees to add challenge. The traps should not come into play unless really careless. Maintenance is at a premium here...a worker was raking a trap that was already manicured to perfection. The blue course is considered the hardest- you must "work the ball" on a couple of holes to score well. I found nothing overly difficult about any certain hole...all were enjoyable though.

Best value in the area

Shenandoah Valley offers 27 great golf holes with beautiful mountain views, and you can play it for as little as $15 on the weekends. The Red and White nines are very walkable - if you like to walk, those are my recommendations. The Blue nine is very difficult and a tough walk - you'll probably want a cart if you catch the Blue. The 27 holes are a neighbor to Bowling Green North and South course - gives you 63 good golf holes all nearby and cheap! Definitely worth the trip.
