This is an OK golf course. Maintenance was sub-par. Difficulty was fair. Scenery was nearly non-existant. I did meet some interesting people though. If you are pressed for cash then this would be your course, if not, then I would suggest making the 2 mile or so trip south to River Crossing. There is no comparison.

I played this course in a work sponsored course recently. I had not played this course before, even though I live only 15 miles from it, because I had heard it was not in good condition. I was wrong to have listened to incorrect info. This is a nice course for the money. They have worked hard during 2008 to bring this course up to standards, and I was very pleased with the product. They had a very friendly staff. I found only one green, (#11) that needs a little more work. The rest of the course is fine. There are some challenging holes for all skill levels. I will play this course again. Just goes to show you, sometimes you just have to take a chance a play a strange course and make your own mind up.

I played here for the first time since the new owners bought it. I've played when it was Rayner Ranch and I CANNOT tell the differnce between then and now. The fairways were terrible. I couldn't tell where the fairway ended and the rough started. The greens were in bad shape, very rough. The yardage markers were not accurate. I was hoping that the course was going to be in better shape, like it was claimed to be, but I was very disappointed. Will not golf there again.

I recently played there and it is excellent. Definitley worth the drive. The new owners have new carts, have built a beverage/food stand at the turn and serve hot foods. The greens and fairways are in excellent condition. The roughs have been cut back and brush under trees trimmed. The marshall is visible and keeps the pace of play moving. There is a 2 for 1 special going on until the end of March and you couldn't ask for better pricing. It is definitely on my list a courses to return to on a regular basis. Thank you staff at The Hawk.

Ok course for the money. Good ammenities. Very thick rough. Must be what Oakmont played like in the US Open.

Course is not worth the drive from San Antonio. Better golf to be had in Seguine or S.A. for less the price of Rayner.
