The 18-hole "Oaks" course at the TPC San Antonio facility in San Antonio, Texas features 7,522 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72. Designed by Greg Norman/Sergio Garcia, the Oaks golf course opened in 2010.
Almost unplayable. Take the most difficult features of any course and put them all into one. Raised, crowned greens, deep bunkers, deep rough, and tight fairways. The resort, course condition, and difficulty are over the top.
This course will make San Antonio step up another notch in the national golf scene. The Valero/Texas Open will gain the attention of the pro golf world with this layout. The weekend we went was cold but sunny and on a great sunday morning my son and I had Greg Normans new design practically all to ourselves. The route is very natural, every hole a unique challange. Two driveable par 4s(5 and 17) are well bunkeredas are all holes except one (9). Par 3 #16 will be famous for the pot bunker in the middle of the green. Scenic Par 5 #18 will reward 2 good shots that negotiate a stream meandering down the middle of the fairway. Practice areas are great. Resort is amazing. Staff still awkwardly new but helpful. Can't wait to go back and play Pete Dyes AT&T Canyon Course !
