I can't say enough good things about this course. It's no wonder it is consistently rated as one of the top public courses in the state of Texas. The course is just outside the metropolis of Frankston.

The driving range and chipping green are large and provide a great place to work on your game. The course itself is beautifully maintained. The fairways are somewhat narrow and reward you for hitting them. As the course name suggests, there are plenty of sand traps the protect the fairways and greens.

Speaking of the greens, they were also well maintained (and tough to read).

I enjoyed playing this course so much that I did something I have never done - I went back for a second round in the afternoon. I look forward to playing this course again.

Played yesterday and I am still amazed by this course. The greens were PERFECT. The course is maintained well. Traps groomed, fairways defined and no houses to hit between. I know some on here have complained of the amenities, but are we here for golf or for cocktails? For golf purists, a must play!!!

A bit out of the way bit worth the trip. Excellent maintenance, fun holes. It is a bit of target golf, in that anything off-line will cost you and there are a large number of fairway and greenside bunkers, but it is a beautiful setting with a top-shelf practice facility. The greens are true but have subtle breaks that are tough to read. It's one of those courses that will yield lower scores once you've played it a few times and learned the ropes. The only negative I can mention is that the cart paths are 4WD, but otherwise I can find no fault. Highly recommended.

This is one of the best courses in Texas! From the first shot to the last, you will be tested. In addition to playing damn near every club in the bag, you better bring your A-game with the putter. The greens are very fast but roll true. Really must play the course more than once to understand where to aim your ball both off the tee and into the green as the course maintains a very high shot value. Saying that, you can hit driver from most holes with a couple of true risk-reward holes out there that forces you to really consider your club selection. For a little over $60 (under 4 hour round) for the round this is a value when playing a course that isn't interrupted by planes, trains or automobiles. Note - There was a fungus on the first two greens but it was a visual concern only - no impact to putting. Some minor conditioning issues (fairways/tees), a maintenance staff that is to visible on a Friday, and that it isn't as friendly to women (namely the wife) as most (one toilet on whole course) drops it a star on overall ranking. Ranks with Belvedere in Charlevoix and The Tennessean as my most recently played favorite courses.

Alot of neat sand traps, though very little water and the greens are great. Exceptional value.

Lots, I mean lots of sand. Fun course, challenging, awesome greens.
