White Bluff Resort Old Course, Whitney, TX

Nice course, it's difficult but in good shape.

This Old Course is closed until late 9/2010 for new greens, but it will come back with vengeance. This course is more difficult than is rated, and will run-up your handicap. Steep elevation changes, blind doglegs, creeks & ponds, plenty of bunkers and tight tree-lined fairways provide trouble around every turn. Better bring an extra sleeve of balls and some temperament. Ah, but the scenery and lake views are well worth it, and their teaching Pros are wonderful. However, bring your own cooler, because beverage cart service is very rare. And pack a sandwich too, because food service here is usually limited to hot dogs, crackers and candy at the pro shop. Both pro shops are stocked with clothes, gloves, hats, balls, and some shoes and clubs. Play the Old Course, then eat at the New Course Trophy Grille.
