Played this course twice in June 2011 - both times the course and greens were in excellent condition - even given the severe drought conditions in the area. One of my favorite courses in the Houston area - definitely worth the drive from Houston.

They have done an outstanding job getting the course standards up. The greens played great on 07/03/09, though slower than the practice greens. The fairways, which usually play hardpan were very nice with just the right amount of grass. The rough around the fairways in some places was up to 8" thick making it difficult to punch out. But hey, that's why we practice, right! All in all a much better course than even March of 09!

The wilderness golf course is for real golfers not starters. If you are a starter i recommend you get your game together before playing on a championship course. This course is awesome to play and my lowest score there is 74 and i thought i played great. So before you play here play at a course that you may can enjoy or play at the women tees.......

great course

I am only a beggining golfer but i have played at least ten different courses. I played this course earlier in my high-school career as a tournament. At that time it was very difficult. There are several out-of-bounds nature areas that posed problems to me when i didn't have the controled drive i have now. Fairway bunkers have become my main concern on this course. yes this is a difficult course. I would recomend Country Place golf course near Houston because of the more challenging par fives and ease of play. It makes a great day trip to play a quick 36 holes there. It's not as long of a course, it has better variety between holes, and easy par threes. Just watch out for homes along the holes' out-of-bounds lines.
