I returned to this course after iplaying here when it was new and lovely. I'm SO sadly disappointed in the way the previously beautiful scenic ponds have been trashed! They are now ugly sludge holes and breading ground sess pools for Mosquitos & other biting bugs. Whereas before the ponds were clear and full, which cooled you with the breeze, they look like they've been mostly drained and are filling with gawd-awful swamp plants, slime, sludge, and scum!!! Do NOT reach your hand in to retrieve your ball even if you can see into the murky puddles! Then there's the storage dump to pass by - delightful! - and I was imagining the vermine in there. What a shame. AVOID!

Just played Heron Lakes today for the first time since they reopened the new greens. Looks and feels like a new course. Proshop girl said they have new carts coming next week which is good because they do need them. The greens could be rolled a little smoother but overall I was very pleased to see all the improvements. Pretty good location for me so I have been waiting to try it out.

Great course for those of us that are in between jobs, or in need of economy golf. I paid $15.00 Its a short and tight course, a good place to practice your irons, leave the driver in the car as this course will test your accuracy. While you will read a lot of compliant's here that are true, the greens are slow and bad, there are a lot of bare spots in the fairways, but it beats beating balls on the range and if you can hit the greens here you can hit them any where in the areas. I hear there are $9.00 green fees on the net but I have not found it.

I should have known not to go when I heard it was $15 to ride. This should be a par 3 course. I played 7 holes and ran to my car. If you have any knowledge for golf DO NOT PLAY THIS COURSE.

Bad golfers delight!
This course is basically a s@%#hole, but at least they know it and the price is right. I mean you won't find a better value around. It is right ON the beltway. I haven't checked but surely someone on Beltway 8 has died by now from getting hit by some shankers tee shot. The course is narrow, but very short. If you can hit the ball straight, if only by accident, your ball will roll on this course. Top it, blade it, don't matter as long as its straight. Because it will roll... we call that "Texas golf". To the point of hilarity actually. I've only played here a couple times, but had some great laughs. It was very dry, and saw a guy use a putter from 20 yards off the green, and there was an 8-foot deep ditch in his way. Just went right through it, it was awesome. And saw a tee shot take its first bounce about 20 yards in front of the tee box and then about 20 bounces later, roll up onto the green on a par 4. You just don't see that every day.
NOTE: As of winter 2010-'11, they were doing some renovations on this course, but I doubt it improved dramatically.

Friendly staff. I just don't care for the layout of the course. Very narrow fairways, small greens. The property is too small for 18 holes. This is more of an "executive" style course rather than a traditional layout. Would have been better as a 9 hole course, I think.

Recently went to play at this course and was shocked at how low the prices were. It is amazing to me that they can charge $10 for a round of golf. Its makes it difficult to play anywhere else in town. Not to mention the staff has always been accomodating and eger to please. FYI: Good thing they sell cheap balls cause your going to need em'. The course is a doozy-tough.

Short and tight, this course will test your accuracy. However the greens are a real problem. I don't think they have the money to really maintain quality greens. Overall the course is in okay shape. But there some holes that were embarasssingly bad. In fact #4 was so tight and in such bad shape I was afraid I had wound up in someones' backyard.
The staff is friendly and the price is cheap at $15.00-$10.00 most weekdays. So I guess you get what you pay for. And I could say this is an inexpensive way to get a quick practice round in. So I don't want to dis the product too much... I will say it looks a far sight better from the highway than close up. they do have a great grill!!!

My son & I have been playing this course for many months now. They recently lowered the prices do to the heat. We enjoy playing this course because it is a fast playing course. It takes about 2 1/2 hours. Never really busy so you feel comfort knowing you wont be rushed. The service is good also, however the greens are great ay times but then are not at other times.

Very narrow fairways.
Slow greens.
Balls will be lost.
Legit price.

This is the worst golf course I have EVER played. I play with a 16 handicap and lost 8 balls on this course. It is extremely short with very tight fairways. The tee boxes were in terrible shape and the greens weren't great either. Play somewhere else.

This course is okay for a "practice" course. The fairways are very narrow so accuracy is a must. The course conditions are poor for the $.

Very easy course that winds through a housing development. LOTS of lakes, but not a single sand bunker. They just raised the prices so it's not as must of a good deal - go for the on-line coupons.

This course was very challenging and difficult, it was great. The price is right and you cant beat it. No driving range is a draw back but other then that its fab. Staff is very nice.

Do not go expecting much and you won't be disappointed. Like the lunch at the Sand Trap Grill. Golf course is nothing special, very short from the back tees. But I've been on worse...

Reviewed September 26, 2007

This was the worst golf course I have ever played. It was like playing golf in your back yard. Poorly kept, not well marked, cart path not even paved in some places.

Well kept secret

It was a pleasure to play this course. Not too difficult, and deceiving in spots. Greens were outstanding. Course was quite narrow in places, but overall a great value.
