The 18-hole "Lakeside" course at the Lakeside Golf Course facility in Eastland, Texas features 5,999 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 71. Designed by George Williams, ASGCA, the Lakeside golf course opened in 1942.
I am going to be a bit lenient on rating this because I feel like West Texas courses need to be cut a bit of a break especially during a drought. Since Eastland has 2 18 hole courses, for the life of me I don't know how they can both be sustained, this course was an unexpected surprise. There's nothing fancy about it but it was a lot prettier than anticipated. It is also nicely maintained.
Even though it is hot and dry, the course looks beautiful. Entire course is being watered and the greens are in wonderful shape. Lots of water comes into play with this course--several creeks, 5 ponds. Best features are the huge oak and pecan trees. The food is great at the clubhouse and there is a bar. The tournaments we have played in are well organized with large pay-out. This course is the best kept secret in Texas.
