Course Reviews

I am fairly new to the game of golf and this LB was the first course I ever played. The course itself is fun and easy to play. Tons of mature trees on the course makes it feel a little more "historical" than some of the newer courses in the area. By that I just mean you can tell they built the course from the existing land rather than bringing in tons of landscaping to build a new course.

With that being said, you can definitely tell it is an older course. The quality of the greens and fairways could be alot better. But it is a muni course that costs $30 to play, so it comes with the territory. Also with the great rates comes alot of players. So you can expect it to back up a little more than usual due to the players ahead of you.

Overall I think this is a fun, relaxed course to play. It has alot of tradition and you don't have to spend an arm and leg to enjoy a round. In fact, it is a great course to walk which saves you on the cart fees!

With that being said, expect the round to go long and don't be expecting Pebble Beach greens cause you just won't find them here.

This is a muni course on the Trinity River bed. It has great potential as an ecology/golf type experience. We always see many animals- especially turtles, snakes, birds... The practice areas are nice. The lessons for junior golfers are reasonable and the staff is talented. The course condition varies a lot depending on the season. Dallas weather has extremes, if you play in the spring and fall, you can expect good to very good conditions. If you play in August or January, they are not so perfect.

I played this course after attending the 2010 Byron Nelson with my nephew and I was pleasantly surprised with the condition of the course especially the greens. The greens were in such great shape for a muni course. The course was a great value and a great time so I plan on playing there more often.

THIS IS A CITY COURSE.... WHAT DO YOU EXPECT!

I enjoy this place its not terrible but its not amazing. just your average Municipal City Course. I always meet GREAT people out there. Yes the course does need more work but there getting there. The staff has come a long way, there alwasy freindly when I go there and they do exactely what I EXPECT... that is take my money give me a cart key and let me know what time I can head to the number 1 tee. I don't know what more you want for $20, $8 if you walk.

Last year, some of the fairways at LB Houston were redesigned a bit to prevent flooding. Over all, however, the course needs attention. The fairway grass is quite thin and the ground hard; the tee boxes are hard; the greens are hard and bumpy. There is potential here, but more work is needed. Still, I play this course a few times each year because of the value. The fairway improvements last year were good; hopefully additional improvements will be made this year.

Course has potential, but the City of Dallas has neglected it badly. Really needs professional management. More attention to landscaping, and employees. Last time I played there the manager wasn't a golfer. Should be an asset to the city with it's North West Dallas location. The Park Department needs to really pay attention to its potential. Could really be a profit maker for the city. The surrounding suburbs really put the City of Dallas to shame when it comes to Golf.

This course used to be decent. It's a goat ranch now.

Course floods constantly and is never in excellent shape. However, if you're looking for a bargain round - the $8 green fees after 2pm on weekdays is a steal. Cheaper than the range!

Only play this course if you can't get on anywhere else! The staff at this course SUCKS! For your time and your money play the other City of Dallas courses (Tenison, Cedar Crest, etc).

Don't waste your tee time!

I've only been playing a short while, but this is the worst course I've ever played. The fairways are like a minefield, and the greens are like playing on a gravel road. The only thing more annoying than the mosquitos, was the gun-range next door, making it a little hard the focus with CONSTANT gunfire in the background. This course was very inconsistant, there's no way that they have renovated any part of it.
