Major disappointment for me. I appreciate that some people like this course (the two people I played with loved it), but this kind of course does nothing for me, so much so that I would call Pine Forest a bad golf course.

So many holes are seriously hemmed in by housing, and so many of the holes just feel like they really shouldn't have been built in the first place. There are some nice views, but one drop shot par 3 is a enough, much less THREE. There are a lot of aggressively bad holes here, and the routing is as bizarre as any I have ever seen. The course is utterly unwalkable, and if not for the roadsigns guiding you from green to tee I don't know that a first timer would be able to find half the tees without an error or two along the way. It's even hard to find the first hole. This really is Real Estate golf at its worst.

Narrow, goofy, small greens, repetitive themes, terrible routing, unwalkable, and at times annoying; I was ready for the round to end by the 5th hole, and I wasn't even playing poorly.

If the greens were in better shape, this would be the best value in Texas. The design with tee shots dropping to par 3s are incredible to view. This course is a definite diamond in the rough. Addendum 8/24/08: With the recent rains, this course IS the best value in Texas. Where else can you get a green fee, nice golf cap, comfortable collared shirt, and 2 cokes for under $50? The courses in Austin jack their prices up and B/CS doesn't have any public course that is as nice and their prices are twice as much as Pine Forest. I'd rather pay the cost of gas (which, by the way, the corner Exxon station IS the least expensive in Texas) and drive 80 miles one-way to play this course than any offered in B/CS!

I'm a beginner and this course ate me up, but it was a great time. Interesting wildlife around the course including deer and roadrunners. Beautiful scenery, especially at the green on 12. The greens could be in better position, but for the price it was quite a treat.

interesting course, has some unique holes that are fun, but then has other holes that are straight, boring, and average. felt like they squeezed some of the holes and don't really fit. i don't mind playing courses that are designed to be narrow, but alot of the holes have a river on one side of the fairway and a road on the other side of the fairway. missed some of the fairways and hit it over the road. i don't like gas powered carts. greens need alot of work. alot of sand on the greens and not easy to putt. par 3's on this course are fun and are mostly elevated tees. if the course gets into better shape, it will be more fun.
