Badly maintained course. Lots of drainage problems. And to top it off, a rude staff. Avoid this one at all costs!

Played 18 today for the 1st time and really enjoyed the course for $25. Most of the greens were in terrible condition and overall it is maintained poorly. I really enjoyed the layout. This would be an awesome course if someone would invest a little more time and money in the maintenance. I will try it again when it cools down in the fall. The temp has been in the high 90's and low 100's with a drought, so I am giving them another chance.

i remember playing this course during the Tornado outbreak of April 2006. was caught on the course when a F3 cell came through but we were very fortunate we managed to make it back to shelter in the basement of the restaurant/clubhouse while the Tornado went directly over the course. that said, the condition of this course was in disarray even before those storms slammed it in 2006. was hoping it would rebound but based on the recent reviews below, think i'll skip it as it sounds like funds have run dry & they can no longer afford the maintenance needed to keep it in playable condition. what a shame because the layout was very challenging & truly scenic

I played this course on august 2010, and it was not playable.

Reviewed July 28, 2010

I have played 12 Stones several times in the past 6 years, and played it in July 2010. Unfortunately, this course is in a very bad state of dis-repair. I don't know if this was partially caused by the flooding in May, or if the owners don't have the funds to keep it up properly, but it was definitely not playable. The tees were non-existent on many of the holes, and did not appear to have been cut in weeks. The fairways were very shaggy and had little roll to them. The rough was similar to the fairways except much worse. The greens had brown worn patches, deep pit marks, and were running about a 4 or 5 on a Stimp. REALLY slow. The bunkers had very little playable sand, and was non-existent in some bunkers. The first fairway had been cut, but had been previously so long, that large amounts of grass were clumped together in very long lines where the tractor had been. Just unplayable without scraping the grass away. The first green was totally unplayable, with large dead brown patches. In addition, there is a totally unreasonable amount of crab grass throughout the entire course...fairways & rough, first cuts, and greens. There does not seem to be any pro-active maintenance going on.

This course has always been a great tract to play, and should not be allowed to continue getting worse. For some unknown reason 12 Stones is unplayable this year. I was charged $22.00 to play. Thing is, I called to make a tee time, and unfortunately no one told me the course was in such bad shape. I would not have gone there otherwise.

I would not suggest anyone playing this course at the present time. I WOULD suggest that the owners seriously consider closing one of the nines (or the entire course), and spend a year getting the course back into shape. I'm really surprised that there has not been an uprising among the upscale homeowners that surround this course about the condition.

This course has lots of elevation changes and excellent greens. The bunkers need a little upkeep. There was some grass growing in the bunkers. The fairways had lots of crabgrass. This course has lots of potential and is very challenging but still very fun to play . The club house is very nice especially the bar and dining area. The staff was very friendly. Overall a well designed couse with great facillaties and great views.

Has potential to be a great course. The mainenance was poor and was made worse by a maintenance person following us the entire 18 smoothing bunkers with a tractor. The rough was very high. There had been a lot of rain in the area for several weeks so I cut them some slack. I did mention the tractor issue to the pro and he gave me a rain check on my round, so they are trying. Overall the course is fun to play. I have not used my rain check yet but I will give them another shot.

Played after two days of rain and felt it would be mostly dry due to the hills. Some areas were wet but for most part great shape. Some greens showed signs of wear but the ball really rolled smooth. Overall this is a must course to play if you like challenges. Good design and good condition for the time of year.

I have only played once so far. When I played the course was in great shape. A couple of greens had a bit of sand, but other than that they were fantastic. The ball rolls true. They were also extremely fast. I would guess 11+ on the stimpmeter, and when you add in the undulations, look out 3-putts. The practice area is nice, including the practice putting green. The chipping green has little to no grass. The range balls were old and like rocks though.
Overall the fairways and greens were super. The rough was good, not too high. The weekday rate is now 32, which is fair. The views cannot be beat. Some odd elevation changes on some holes make it very difficult. Great course, but very, very hard.

The course has improved inthe last 6 months. Still a long way to go but the greens have gotten much better and they did fertilize better.

Great layout, Great clubhouse... course in terrible condition

Played Sunday 08/06/06 and left upset that I paid 42 to play here. The layout is interesting and challenging but it is the worst taken care of course I have ever played. The green were tall and eaten up with fungus, plus had alot of sand on the surface. There was not a seperation between the fairway and rough and the fairways were eaten up as well and the tee boxes grass were taller than what I keep my own yard. It seem they don't either no what they are doing or don't have the resources to properly maintain the course. The only reason, I see, to ever go to this course is the clubhouse. The food is awesome.

Poor Shape

When this course first opened it was a pure jewel. But over time and new management it's very obvious that the course doesn't even take the time to properly fertilize. I think it a disgrace when the residents have to double treat their lawns just to keep the weeds of the golf course from infiltrating their own lawns. I hope this is improved soon because the layout is really nice.
