Meadow Creek Golf Course, Volga, SD

Meadow Creek is a very nice 9-hole course just minutes from Brookings, SD. The course is well-maintained and the staff is friendly. It is not a particularly easy course. Almost every hole has a dogleg and some of the holes are fairly long. #1 is particularly difficult--from the back tees it is 436 yards uphill. This is a course where you need to think about where to place your shots. #4 is a 551 yard par 5. The creek passes through the fairway causing you to make a decision about your 2nd shot. Lay up short of the water with a longer 3rd shot or carry the water to have a shorter 3rd shot. #5 is another tough par 5. 517 yards with a C-shaped dogleg. The inside of the dogleg has trees and marsh along almost the whole length, making cutting the corner a risky proposition. It also requires a tee shot to the left side to have a better sight line around the dogleg. A creek runs through 3 of the holes. There are very few bunkers. The course is fairly easy to walk although there are elevation changes on several of the holes.
