Elkhorn Ridge Golf Club, Spearfish, SD

Elkhorn Ridge blows you away as you pull into the parking lot. The clubhouse is incredible and the staff was great. Unfortunately I played in July '12 when they were in the middle of an irrigation pond liner replacement and the course was soooooo dry. They were hand watering the greens and they were impeccable. Bunkers were well kept but the fairways were super dry, its too bad because it is a great course.
The course is very difficult, from rolling fairways, blind shots, elevation changes, and the slope of the greens you are in for a treat. The GPS in the carts are very nice as well. I'm hoping by the time this is posted for others to read that the pond liner has been replaced and everything will be nice and green for 2013.
I walked away from this course thinking it was much better than Spearfish Canyon CC even with the dry conditions and the fact that they only have 9 holes. Give this course a chance if you are passing through.
