I played Brandon in July '12 and was not as impressed as I had expected. I could only play the front due to a women's league beginning on the back nine. I found the front nine to be very boring and typical of a muni. Not one front pin placement on that nine holes which I thought was weird. Trees guarded you from other holes that ran parallel to yours. Lack of fairway yardage signs were disappointing too.
The rates were too high for 9 holes as well - $30+.
Maybe I caught this course on the wrong day as everyone else seems to enjoy this course so take my review with a grain of salt.

Brandon Municipal has perhaps the nicest closing hole view in the area. The 18th green is backed by a green-covered hill on top of which sits the beautiful clubhouse. The 18th fairway has trees lining the left side. I have golfed here several times and have always found the staff to be friendly and helpful. The course is well-maintained. As for playability, water comes into play on several holes. There are some sand bunkers but they generally pose little problem. The par 4 and par 5 holes are all fairly short with several par 4s playing 320-330 from the middle tees and the par 5s as short as 465. The fees are on the lower end of those charged by 18 hole courses in the area. This is a nice course to play.

This course has a very nice setting and club house, but could do a better job on the customer service, rude and disrespectful. On play date, maintenance could have been better, from mowing, clumps of grass built up in the fairway and ruff, sandtraps should be raked. Driving Range well maintained, but not very well layed out; no yardard indicators, no water/brush to clean your clubs and for the amount of practice balls you get and the cost you pay makes it one of the poorest on my list.

Jumping the line

We played today and it was pretty busy. We were held up at practically every hole. That was to be expected, since it was a very nice Friday. But when we got to 9 and the threesome ahead of us were busy at the food stand, we slowed down to finish our hole. They finally teed off and we went back to our cart to proceed. Before we got there, someone jumped in front of us and not only took up the tee area, he blocked our cart so we could not move in front of him. We decided it wasn't worth not only waiting for the threesome in front of us, but now we had to wait for this very inconsiderate individual. I know it can get busy, but that is no excuse for letting some jump the line on 10 and start ahead of others that are already playing.
