Played today after not playing there for three years. It used to be a great place to play, but fell into a bad state! Well, I'm happy to see that it's "almost" back! The fairway lays are in great shape...most of the greens are pretty patchy. I hope they keep moving this nice course back to what it used to be!

Go to any other golf course in upstate except this one. Green were bad, new guy in maitence acts like superintendent but know nothing. Golf pro fat and unfriendly...

Drove over an hour to play golf at this course and upon our arrival it looked promising. However, first impressions failed here. The staff was rude, mostly the golf professional and the amenities were none. The greens were hard and bumpy and the fairways were unkempt. I could overlook a lot of the lack of course maintenance if it weren't for the behavior of the staff. They made it seem like we were doing THEM a favor by coming there, not the other way around. It seemed like everything they did for us was done begrudgingly and will an attitude. The golf professional is not that at all.....a professional and should be replaced by someone with little more customer service based training.
Overall, the trip was worth it due to the scenery but if I had my way I would not play there again until things change. For the price you pay you should have better. Sorry ROJ for the review, but maybe this will help you in the long run

What a great place. Course was in really good shape. This is a ball hitters course and is laid out very well. People friendly. The whole experience was great. You will love the scenery. Mountain views, water falls and beautiful homes. Have not seen a golf course with views you get here. Prices were great for the fun you will have. The mountains are cooler than in the Upstate now and that makes it easier on the body. Come play here, you will not be disappointed. First time played in years and will be coming back for sure

Avoid this place like the plague! Head golf pro (bald and fat)is a jerk and a poor business man! Refused to give rain checks during pouring rain. Said the course was open!! Don't waste your time with this course, or the jerks that manage it!! There are too many nice courses and people up here to waste your time and money with these idiots!

A scenic and challenging course. I thought it was in good shape overall and I had a blast playing it. If your ever in the area it's worth the visit!

The Rock at Jocassee is in the best shape it has ever been. All the greens are plush and very smooth and fast. The fairways are so manicured that you do not have to hunt for anything to hit off of. Prices are reasonable for a course of this stature. If you like to hit a driver you will not utilize it much on this course. The course is set up for precision iron shots and most of the time I find myself teeing off with a three iron and being 150 yards into the hold. There are probably four holes on the entire course where you can hit driver. This is probably the most beautiful course in the upstate of South Carolina at this time and the views are spectacular.

I am a new golfer. However this course has some of the best scenery. They have a new grounds keepeer since early Spring and the greens are now gorgeous and play very well. This is a hidden gem in the mountains. The course is somewhat crowded on weekends as people are finding out about the great condition of the greens and improvements to the fairways. The bar and grille need some help but other than that, it is a great golfing experience.

The scenery is great.! .. but after that, it goes "all downhill".

1.) For starters, the course measurements are way off, based in our SG2 skycaddie .. I don't mean a little off, I mean there's holes that were 15/25 yards off, and on more than one occasion (especially on the back 9) we found holes that were 35/40 yards offline.

2.) The greens are in terrible shape .. most have root rot and you can only play 50% of them.

3.) They need to cut back some of the rough .. believe me, I've played great courses all over the country .. but having 8 or 10 inches of weeds and deep grass 6 inches off the fairways and greens is silly, it doesn't make it hard, just irritating .. like us, the group in front of us spent more time looking for balls than hitting them, and the same for the groups in and around the course - and some of these are scratch golfers.

I have to say, I was really disappointed with this course ... to quote my fiance: "it's like a rented cow pasture that someone forgot to pay the rent on".

Sorry guys, spend a little money here.

Greens fees are among the highest in the upstate...with unquestionably the worst greens. And where's Lake Jocassee? Oh yeah, 10 miles away. I did see some rocks, though.

The scenery makes this course. A lot of elevation changes make club selection very important. Greens could be in a little bit better shape, especially since most of them are so small.

I play this course quite a bit since I live in the area.

It has a good mixture of difficult and easy holes, so in order to score well, you must take advantage of the easy holes and hold on for the difficult holes like #4, #10 and #15. You must keep the ball out of the woods on the tight holes as you have little chance of finding your ball must less play a recovery. The par-fives are where you want to score as well as some short par-fours. The par-threes can be misleading because, though short, the greens are pretty small.

The conditions can be inconsistent mainly due to difficult weather conditions.(heat\humidity) I played on July 5th and they were excellent with the greens especially nice.

The best thing about this course is the scenery as the course plays thru valleys surrounded by hovering mountains. The signature hole is the 8th with the waterfall view, but for my money it doesn't compare to the mountain vistas from #7 and #18 tees as well as looking back up the fairway from the #13 green.

The resort has several nice condos for rent, a nice pool area and the grill is good.

I played this course on a Wed.afternoon with my wife while we were on vacation at our lake house on Lake Keowee that is only 15 min. from there. My wife is a teacher and we went during the spring break period.

I felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. We didn't think that they would have a grill and we ate lunch before we went. Next time we will have to eat there before we play a round.

The people in the clubhouse were freindly and helpful. The course was in good shape. The greens were very inconsistant. One green would be fast and the next one would be slow. I thought that it might be because we had a rain there a couple of days before and some of the greens that were not surrounded by trees may have dried before the others but some of them were slower than the ones that got less air.

The scenery and the ability to play at our own pace made it one of the most enjoyable times that I have played golf in years. (I play about 20 times a year.
