Course Reviews

4.5 Star overall. The site does not update the review, no matter what I enter it chooses its own rating. I have never seen the course in better shape then it is now.

PS. The site does not update the review. I gave this a 4.5 star overall

We live here and Tidewater Golf Club has see some incredible highs and in recent past 6 months I have seen changes bringing the course back to its greatness best and the best shape it has ever been in.

Greens were in very good condition, fairways were pretty good, and the tee boxes were hit or miss. Holes on the water created some beautiful holes. That being said, I was not blown away by this course, but definitely glad I played it.

THIS COMPANY BURROUGHS AND CHAPIN IS DESTROYING ALL THE LAND AND GOLF COURSE IN THE MYRTLE BEACH AREA. THE GRANDE DUNES COURSE IS SAVING MONEY BY NOT SEEDING IN THE FALL AND CUTTING BACK BY NOT WATERING ENOUGH LEAVING THE GRASS BROWN IN ORDER TO SAVE MONEY AND IS DOING THAT AT ALL THE COURSES THEY OWN OR RUN. THIS COMPANY IS FALLING APART AFTER THE FEDERAL LAWSUIT AGAINST THEM FOR RUNNING A MOLD INFESTED CONDO AT THE MARINA " MOLD " INN IN MYRTLE BEACH. I GUESS THEY ARE RUNNING OUT OF MONEY TO MAINTAIN THE GOLF COURSES TO PAY ATTORNEYS FEES AND 6 MILLION IN REPAIRS FOR THE MARINA "MOLD" INN. GOOD LUCK, I CHOOSE NOT TO PLAY ON BURROUGHS AND CHAPIN COURSE ANYMORE. FAIRWAYS ARE COVERED WITH DEAD GRASS. THE OLD ROBERTS ROOST IS IN BETTER CONDITION. I SPOKE TO THE GROUNDS KEEPER BILL PRICKCHARD WHO RACKS THE SAND PIT AND THROWS OUT THE GARBAGE AND HE SAID ITS NOT HIS FAULT OR HIS BUDDY AXIL SURVAY'S FAULT, THEY ARE JUST GRUNTS FOR THE COURSE AND CLEAN UP BOYS. IT SEEMS BURROUGHS AND cHAPIN ARE FIRING ALL THERE EMPOLYEES AND GIVING THEM GRUNT WORK TELLING THEM NOT TO SPEAK TO ANYONE. THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM. DON'T GOLF AT THERE PLACES UNLESS THEY ALLOW YOU TO USE ROSENBURGS NOSE AS A TEE OR CHRIS CLARKBARS BELLY. ROSENBURG IS THE GUY RUNNING BURROUGHS AND CHAPIN WHO STATED " (IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM COME TO ME AND WE WILL MAKE IT OUR PROBLEM, BUT DON'T COME TO ME AND ITS YOUR PROBLEM)" I WENT TO HIM ABOUT THE CONDITION AND MY LOW GOLF SCORES ARE MY PROBLEM. HE IS NOT A MAN OF HIS WORD.

WOW, what a disappointment. Was there this weekend on Sunday Jan. 4th, to finish up our three day trip. We had saved Tidewater for our final round due to all the positive ratings etc. and due to us having played it 4 years ago and it being in great shape with wonderful views. NOT THIS TIME, the greens were slow and bumpy and the fairways wet and patchy. While the views were still great they can only cover up the course conditions so much. Don't go here until they improve the conditions.

Played course on 06/30/08 w/ our annual golf outing group of 8. For the course to be called the Pebble Beach of the East you would have expected acceptable greens and fairways. Lots of damage to both. Definitely not worth a single round rate of $89-$103. The greens had severe damage (on some) and fairways were alittle patchy. One good thing I can say about the course is the staff was great. Starter and Baggers were wonderful and polite.

Poor condition on 3/29/08. When I askedthe starter if we were on time he laughed. It was 1/2 hour behind schedule. Once out there 5.5 hour round

I've seen alot of negative posts lately on Tidewater, so naturally I was concerned as we headed to the course on 02/21/08. I visit Myrtle Beach at least twice a year and have played Tidewater once before. Whatever happened to irritate the previous reviewers seems to have been rectified. We found the course conditions to be acceptable for a higher end tract in February. I've seen course conditions more plush in previous Myrtle trips, but in the courses defense, the Carolina's have been in one hell of a drought for the last year. The City of Myrtle Beach has imposed some heavy watering restrictions on them and it has certainly hurt. All that aside, and in spite of some cool weather, we had a great time. A large part of what makes Tidewater special is the aesthetics. There are no parallel holes here, and you'll find long drives from the greens to the next tee box. There are some beautiful holes here, with views of the ocean and saltwater marshes. BRING YOUR CAMERA and use it for a quick snapshot here and there. You'll regret it if you don't. It's important to play conservatively at Tidewater for two reasons. For one, it will improve your score dramatically. Secondly, It will keep the ranger off your @$!*%. We are from upstate N.Y. and hadn't hit a ball in over 2 months. As such, we didn't have our "A game" on. Even so, we thought we played pretty well...The ranger, however, did not share that sentiment...Tidewater has the dubious distinction of being one several Myrtle Beach courses that "double tee"...that meaning they send separate groups off both the front and back 9 in an effort to maximize earning potential. We had to play speed golf for 2 or 3 holes to get back on pace and make the turn at the prescribed time. My recommendation is that you play "ready golf", and always have a spare ball in your pocket. The carts have a nice g.p.s. system that seemed in line with the garmin golflogix unit I carry. Bring a windbreaker-even on seemingly warm days, and expect to club up one or 2 on the oceanside holes.

It's a shame that such a nice course is run by a bunch of idiots! Tee times 30 minutes late. 9 hole times - 3 HOURS EACH NINE. Pro shop explanation - oh well. This was not a one time deal. The last two times we played it was like this. I visit Myrtle yearly with 4 foursomes and will never schedule to play at Tidewater AGAIN! Far to many great golf courses to put up with their SHI#@%$#%

Territble conditions. Very wet fairways. Some fairways have not been cut in days. Greens are super slow and bumbpy. Call Matt at the Pro Shop in advance to check the course status after reading one of the negative post about this course at this golf course. Matt told me that the course is in great shape. What a lie! Tee boxes are also in terrible shape. They want to charge US $5 for 15 range balls...I've never seen anything ripoff deal like that before. Some great view in the front nine.

NOT WORTH $77 THEY CHARGE US!! STAY AWAY FROM THIS COURSE! SHAME TO STAFF WHO LIED TO ME.

I had been looking forward to playing this course for several months. The course had double booked and we were 45 minutes late getting off the 1st tee from our scheduled t-time, this causing our group to finish in th e dark. The course was in horrible shape, holes 15-18 had some sort of substance applied to the fairways and there were white patches all over the place. The fairways were also in the process of being re-seeded and you had to stay on cart paths only. The edges of the fairways had tire marks on them form the reseeding equipment. One positive was that the carts were brand new and had GPS, the negative is that the screen are hung from the roof of the cart making it hard to see. I would never play this course again!

I played this course in August of 2007. I was expecting a great course in superb condition. I was extremely dissapointed. It did not live up to all the hype (which there is plenty of). The course was in terrible shape. The fairways were very long, and the rough had clumps of fresh cut grass everywhere. To their credit, they said they were in a severe drought. However, I played Glen DOrnoch the day before and it was in pristine condition.

We were given a discounted rate, but for $75.00, I still felt like it was way over rated.

Top 3 on the strand pretty easily

This course is one of the best courses at the beach. It has a good layout, it's tough, in good condition, and the scenery is nice as well. Overall, I would have to say this was the third toughest course I've played from the back tees in my life. With the wind and length of the course it really took all you had to manage this baby and I loved every minute of it. The setup of the course is great as it runs along the waterway, which adds a whole new dimension to your game with the wind and water coming into play quite a bit.

I highly recommend this course and would say it's a must play for those that are at Myrtle and are serious about golf. The green fees are reasonable for the summer as it's worth the $90-$100 that it calls for. Couple this one with the Barefoot Fazio course and you're in for a treat.
