Course Reviews

Beautiful course. Worth every penny. Not overly difficult; just fun to play. Many unique holes and greens roll true. Highly recommended for any golf package.

Really enjoyed everything about the course. Condition is very good and greens role true. Challenging yet fair!

i love this course it could be the fact that i have chipped in a birdie in each of the last two years and landed a ball in the center of the gambler. the course has always been in great shape every time i've played it. i come in a group on a golf trip and will continue to do so as long as this course is on the list.

WOW !! ... the "Gambler" is one of the best designed holes in the Grand Strand area. Like a previous reviewer, I too topped a ball on #6 because I was wanting to make the perfect shot to island fairway. Course does not take rain well as we had cart path only from previos day's rain. Ohterwise a GREAT COURSE !!

Flawless Course

Definately the better of the courses at Myrtle beach National. Difficult course requires smart play. The gambler hole was a great Hole. Because we were playing stupid Hole Number 5 the gambler hole i got a nine on and we as a foursome group compiled a plus 23 on the hole. I still scored a 94 for the round but i would love to try that hole over again. Definately a challenging course and would play it over again. Must play for this area.

Gambler is a great hole, good opportunity for risk/reward. 18 is a great finishing hole with giant sandtraps. Its a must play

Very Nice course....

I wished, it hadn't poured down 2" of rain the day before I played it.

It caused the play to be very different than it would have been, Had it have been dry.

Despite that. Everything else was excellent.

"the Gambler" -- a.k.a Hole #6..... was awesome.. but, I can't lie, I actually topped the ball off the tee. I was so worried about hitting the island fairway. I forgot to just worry about making the essential important clean contact with the ball.

All-n-All, this course was awesome.

Not bad but a bit overpriced

Lots of acclaim for this course and it was okay but didn't quite live up to the billing that it receives. Now don't get me wrong, the course is nice, the layout has a few interesting holes, the atmosphere is pretty good. I just wasn't blown away by it really. It doesn't play that long from the back and the course is very playable, which is a positive. The signature "Gambler" hole isn't much of a gamble in my opinion, a nice little 3 or 5 wood to the island, then an accurate long iron to the green makes it relatively easy actually. The staff and facilities are nice but the green fees are a bit too high. Maybe paying about $80 for this course but not over $100.

Overall, it's worth playing. A low handicap player will probably find it kinda blah after going there a few times but the rest of the crowd will like it. Still, it's not even close to the challenge/condition/fun as some of the Barefoot courses, Tidewater, Caledonia, etc.

Play it every year

We play King's North every year on Sept. 26th, best friend's birthday. The course is always in great condition, very playable, and just tough enough to keep you on your toes. My favorite holes are #3, a nice par four over water, #12, a very nice par 3 island green, and of course, #6, The Gambler. Be careful using the island fairway in windy conditions. The staff is very friendly, especially the beverage cart ladies. Hi Miriam !! Real nice clubhouse with fantastic photos of Arnie and his pals. A must play.
