Course Reviews

Played this course yesterday and found it in terrible shape. Tee boxes and greens are all chewed up. A few years ago, this course was recommended by a local radio commentator. He should visit it now.

My least favorite course in the area. I avoid it like the plague. Not one nice thing to say about this course so I will just keep it at that.

I feel sorry for somebody that may not play here based on some of the negative reviews because Skippack is an extremely nice course to play. The front nine, as many have stated is fairly wide open, but the back is tight with many unique, interesting, and fun holes to play. So many uphill, downhill holes surrounded by woods with water coming into play on more than a few holes. Really a beautiful and challenging back with exceptional scenery and great layout. The course is maintained well with the exception of the rough which was higher than is should have been. That truly probably is Skippack's only drawback, oh and that's it's somewhat confusing finding your next tee box due to poor course direction. The greens played to an average speed, were nice, and played very fair. The value of $18 to walk weekday twilight (maybe spring rates) is a flat out steal considering what I normally pay in New Jersey for courses of far lesser quality. The course also plays a lot longer than stated due to the frequent uphill holes which is the reverse from about 90% of the other courses I have played, so don't let the yardage fool you into thinking this is a short course. They have logo balls for the collector like myself; another plus. Fun, challenging, unique holes, scenic, cheap, decently maintained, and logo balls.....can't ask for much more. Only the minor drawbacks and the less exciting front 9 bring the value of the course down minimally. Overall rating A-.

I went out of my way to play this course, and though I wouldn't do it again, Skippack is not a bad track. The problem with the less scenic front nine is that when I played the course, it rained the past few days. When I asked if the rough was always that long...the man in the pro shop just grinned. If not for the long rough and narrow fairways, the front nine would be overly easy. The back nine offers slightly more interesting golf, but except for the lengthy Par 4 12th hole, nothing overly challenging. Still...golf is golf and it beats just about anything else.

don't let the score fool you this course plays longer then with alot of up hill shots the green are small but
very tough and you better hit the ball long and straight
or your in for a long day.

Well, the course wasn't awful. I think $49 is a bit much however. The traps were poor quality sand/light gravel and were like hitting off of a 2x4.If I would have dug through the sand I would have cracked a rib. Some greens were nice but the majority had bare, diseased areas that really made putting frustrating. Not having a hole lay-out on the scorecards or any placards was a real problem for a first-timer to the course. We had to guestimate the hole lay-out on the fly which made club selection a problem and made it a 5hr round. The roughs were really high and thick but well maintained. I didn't mind it so much though. Maybe it will teach me to hit straighter drive. The attendants were more than friendly and very pleasant. The cart girl was a real plus too. Great selection of beverages. All that being said it was a good day out, we had fun, I shot well but they have some work ahead of them.I would like to play it again if they corrected a few things.

What a comeback this golf course is making! This picturesque course on State park land was a dog a few years ago. I decided to try it out again and the new management company has done a great job. They have such a professional, accommodating staff from the front desk to the starter to the PGA Pro who now manages it. I was also surprised to see a totally new pro shop with a much larger selection of golf apparel.
The course itself looks noticeably improved from the last time I played, although the staff was quick to point out it is a work in progress.
Well, their efforts are paying off. The place was a buzz with positive energy and many happy golfers.
I will definitely return. Awesome value! Great job guys!

This course is in horrible shape. Not only do you have to deal with the greens that are 1/3 dirt from a weavel problem, you also have to deal with a most incompetent staff. I recently played a round there and used my TeeTime pass book for a discounted rate. According to the book it should have cost $10.00 to play . But when we arrived we were told that the book is wrong we had to raise the price to $11.00. The dollar isn't the issue it's the priciple. Stand behind the book price. The next issue is we decided to play a second round and were charged $10.00 for it. No problem . Except it started pouring down rain in the middle of our first hole so quit. We went back to the pro shop and asked for a refund and were looked at like we had 3 heads and told that they don't give refunds on replays. And besides that our first round was dicounted with the teetime book. I don't really understand what that had to do with getting a refund. I don't understand how they don't refund your money after 1 hole due to rain, it isn't like they let us play the second round for nothing and we were asking for our original amount back. What a bad business practice. Then to make matters worse they deducted $2.00 off the $20.00 we paid for the second round and when we were leaving I made the comment that I hoped they choked on the $2.00. Rather than trying to make me the customer happy the owner followed my friend and I to our cars and told us he was pissed and the choke on it comment and he thought he was being very gracious giving us $18.00 back. They were very confrontational instead of trying to work things out. I wouldn't recomend playing this course. Besides the rude and incompetent staff the course always has leagues and kids classes that they don't tell you about when you make the tee time, then when you get there it takes 5 to 5 1/2 hours to play a round. And with the greens being sooo bad and 1/3 dirt they still charge you full price and don't tell you of the problem. I just would NOT recommend this course to anyone it definetly isn't worth it. Even with the teetime book it isn't worth it. There are so many other courses where you can be treated fairly and don't have to be aggrivated. A total peice of S_ _ T course and faculty.

Expected so much more. For how much this course is advertised on tv you would expect a really well maintained course. I know it's July but really. The greens 30-40% dead and brown. The rough was like a backyard with clover and patches of onion grass. The tees were hard as a rock. I mistakenly warmed up on the 18th green because it looked like a practice green. The bunkers were poorly placed and even worse was how they were maintained with stones and dirt in them. A decent layout and plays very fair. If you lose a tee shot expect bogey or worse. I will go back but probably in October when it hasn't been hot and maybe it rained for a while cause they don't water that place. Dissapointing.

a lot of bugs but all in all, ok course

The rough is longer then any US Open course. It is not because they are trying to make the course more difficult, it is because the course is not proerly mowed. Very disappointed.

Very tight course, must drive straight and make the fairway. Heavy, deceiving rough with everything sloping to the right. Good course though, but rather difficult.Exceptionally nice staff!

whered the 150 markers go

when i played there earlier this year all the 150 and 200 yard markers were stolen out of the fairway. ill come back when they are put back in!

Skippack Condition Great

Skippack's playing condition is much improved from early in the year. The course is wide open, and the greens are challenging. Current improvements underway should add to the beauty of the course.
