Played this course yesterday and was disappointed. In the previous two years, this course was in great shape this time of year. We found crab grass every where on the fairways, tee boxes and the middle of the greens.
The traps were like concrete.

Wow....where to begin. I called ahead, as I do with every course I play, to inquire about price and how busy the course was and if they have logo balls since I have never played at Westover before. They quoted me a price and informed me it was busy, but they could squeeze us in. I've heard that line before and should know by now that those words mean stay far far away at least that day. Upon arriving, I was told they couldn't even get us out for 2 more hours and but for a late cancellation we would have driven an hour each way for nothing. Word of advice to pro shop workers....busy and booked have different meanings. Then I was charged a different price than the one quoted an hour earlier on the phone which just seems wrong. After rushing out to the first tee with no time to putt a ball or two on the practice green, stretch or take a practice swing we began our round only to witness firsthand the slowest round of golf I may have ever played. There was a foursome 2 holes ahead of us log jamming the course without a ranger to be found. If your going to allow the course to be this full at least have a ranger monitoring pace of play. Not a pleasant experience, AT ALL, which is ashame because the course was actually quite nice. It's a little too short for my liking and the scorecard has yardages marked incorrectly, but some holes were fun to play and rather interesting moreso on the back 9 where the holes aren't side by side. The signature hole probably being the 11th hitting from an elevated tee to a dogleg right where you have to cross water and chip onto a protected green. The course was well maintained and the greens played to an average speed and were fair. They have logo balls for the collector like myself, a plus, but given the drawbacks a ball is hardly a Westover saviour. In fact, for the first time in over 1000 courses I have played did I actually call to complain. Paul the golf pro did say that if I played there again he would comp me a round which was nice, but even that hardly recovers from an otherwise extremely poor experience. Overall rating for the course itself B+. Overall rating for the staff and management an F and if I could give it a G ...I would. I'd ONLY recommend playing here during the offseason or when it's a little rainy because when this course if full forget about it.

not the worst course in the world, but there are plenty of other courses in the area that are the same price but twice as nice. the proshop worker got smug with me when i asked if i could get out for a quick 9...on a Tuesday in March. it has the distinction of being on my "never going back list"

If they keep the price where it's at when I played last I'll be going back often.

I'm a high handicapper, so this review is from that perspective:Nice course, GREAT VALUE! Memorial day weekend with a cart $30!!! WOW. The only negative thing I can say is the greens were areated (sp?) and where the holes were grass had grown in making the putting EXTREMELY SLOW and hard. Even downhill putts stopped on a dime. Very difficult to get a read on the speed of the greens. other than that GREAT course and I will be back.

Played on a nice day in early March. Course was in rather good shape for the time of year with a few challenging holes. Enjoyable round with a friendly staff. Only complaint was the large (size and quantity) amount of goose crap all over the course, even on holes with no water nearby. And if you play when it's crowded, watch out. golf balls were raining down from every direction on the first 7 or 8 holes.

Other than that, I was pleased with this course. I'd like to see it again in the summer.

Decent, fairly priced course for a range of handicaps; very manageable length even from the tips. Tight without being claustrophobic, and opportunities on a few holes to recover from wayward shots. A few interesting holes, though most are run-of-the-mill. Condition is generally good. Pace of play can be a problem depending on how many hackers are out ahead, but at least the start intervals are sensible. In general, nothing special, but an honest course for the money which usually provides an enjoyable round.

Plays a lot to longer players. It's good because it isn't very cramped. Only in the beginning is there ever the possibility of there being players from other holes in your fairway. Has a couple of very interesting holes with risk/reward. Most of the others are straight forward. But the best part is the maintenance. The condition is a lot better than most of the public courses around here. The greens are large and well groomed and pretty consistent as well.

My first time playing here was enjoyable. Difficulty was not overpowering for the average hitter. The course was well maintained but practically no amenities were provided. 1 soda machine on the whole course was out of order. A few water stations provided some relief. A great value for the $. I will play again. Be prepared for some very slow groups though. The Ranger never pushed anyone along which was frustrating.

Great course for a great price. Usually in outstanding condition, this course has great value for the price. Similar hole layouts bring some monotony to your round. Tree-lined fairways are tight, and most greens are average size. Some holes are enjoyable like the downhill par3 #4 and the 18th which you must drive over the lake, or lay up for a challenging uphill shot to a tight green w/bunkers. Crossing the road to #13-#16 can get a little annoying as you feel like you went to a totally different course. And don't dare hit over the houses or the residents will make a call to the pro shop on you! Grade = B

fun local course for a quick 9 or 18

Reviewed August 06, 2007

Its a nice place to play a quick nine after work. Other than that, its BORING. Other than the greens, the course has zero character. I do like how the greens play, even if they are a bit on the slow side. If i had 10 rounds between jeffersonville and westover, I'd play Jeff 7 or 8.
