Played this course on 8/29/14... this course was in absolutely pristine shape!! The greens were wicked fast(just like i like 'em) the fairways and rough were lush. Nice view of a river lazily rolling around a few of the holes. Now that being said, the course is hilly with lots of blind shots that you will remember for the second time you play it. It is a "shotmakers" course meaning for the longer hitters you will need to hit irons off the tees. I played it on golfnow for $20 so for that it was a great value....

Short and hilly with a couple of terrible tricked up holes. Maintenance had improved but two greens were ruined this summer. A good course for senior citizens who want to ride. It is a little pricey for Lancaster County although occasionally they have some good specials

played on july 24th most of the course was in good shape. the only thing i did not like was that a couple of greeens were in bad shape.
one had no grass so they painted it green to have the appearnce of grass. nice course to play when the greens recover.

Nicer course in the Lancaster area...but not an overly scenic place. Some tight fairways require some extra ball movement (fade or hook). As with any challenging course...keep the ball in the fairway and you should score well. Found the greens to run extremely fast...very dry conditions. Balls would hit the greens from 150 yards out and leave no implant mark and would roll from front to back of green. Found the course to play fair and would recommend a stop though not the easiest course to find.

Easily the prettiest course in the area. They are starting a lot of construction which I'm afraid is going to lead to more houses on the course (like the back of the back 9). Creative layout and just a lot of fun to play. Good value too!

Great Course for a great price. Creative layout. Short, but very narrow in most spots, especially the back nine. If you spray the ball alot, this course can hand out some high numbers. If in the fairway, you can make some birdies, and certainly some pars, because the course isn't extremely difficult around the greens. However, the greens are tough to read and relatively quick. Challenging, yet entertaining.

challenging golf course

PLayed this course over the weekend with some friends. We all loved this course. #4 Hole is a tough one...Definitely a 3 shot due to the layout. However, 1 thing we did not care for was the fact that even with a VERY thick fog, the proshop refused to delay play for awhile. This made it VERY difficult to see your ball on the first 2-3 holes. If they were anything like the others, +++++Course.

I play this course all the time. Not too terribly challenging, but fun. Favorite holes are 10, 11, 17.

Great course that is going to be destroyed with development and overplay. Play this course now while it's still worth something. Five years from now it will be trashed.

Tough course, Great conditions, Pretty views, Fantastic Deals

My brother and I play here almost every week for their twilight walking special. After 3pm on weekdays it is $14 for 18 or whatever you can get in. There is no way you would want to walk more than 18 on this course.

Crossgates is ALWAYS in fantastic condition. They have huge tee boxes so they can frequently move around and keep lots of grass on them. Fairways and greens are always immaculate. The elevations changes make for some very pretty views, especially on the tee of #3 in the fall.

This course has a LOT of elevation change. The front 9 is very hilly by most course standards. The back is even worse.

It is not an impossible course, but it is difficult -- Particularly the par 5 #10 and #18. If it were not for markers indicating the distances to major hazards it would be much worse. As another reviewer mentioned, there are a few completely blind shots and you can't see the flag from the tee on probably half (or more) of the holes. I think what a lot of people don't like is that this is not a 'grip it and rip it' type course. Management definitely comes into play and often you are wise to hit a short club off of the tee, either to set yourself up for your second shot, or to keep from getting into trouble altogether.

If you are up for a challenge, both of your golf skills and your physical fitness, Crossgates is a great course to play.

Can't see going back to Crossgates

Course didn't really suit my play. Many dog leg holes with approach-to landing areas to hit and the pin was not visible from fairway lie many times. Very hilly, fairways and greens were well watered. Just didn't rate very highly and probably won't play there again.

Very nice looking club house. Course marshals did not do a good job at keeping play moving sufficiently. I felt they let the "homers" play as slow as they wanted.

Great All-Around Experience

We play this course regularly, as it provides a good challenge at a good value. Maintenance is always first rate despite heavy traffic. The ProShop staff isn't as friendly as most Lancaster County courses, but the course is worth a visit and a nearly guaranteed nice round.
