Staff there is not friendly at all, and needs some fresh young faces. The older gentlemen need to move on so players can enjoy the experince there. I have been there twice this year (friends live close) and refuse to spend anymore money there. Course is ok, short and a bit of a shooting gallery. I birdied the one par 5,twice, so yes it's short.

Course is extremely short, with many parallel holes and is often a shooting gallery. Way overpriced ($40 on weekend) for adequate greens, choppy fairways and driver-wedge shots all day. A better player needs 5 clubs and thats about it. Much better value, conditions at other nearby courses(Highland Springs, Ponderosa) can be found. I suppose a good course for the marginal player who wants to post a good score and say they broke 80 (Par is only 70)given the length (6000 from back tees) is lacking and minimal trouble. I've only played this course when forced too. (outing, etc.)

This course has always been fairly easy due to the lack of trouble. Errant drives most often are easily recoverable. However, a fun course to play and score. Wind can add some strokes on any given day. The greens have much improved over the years and are now a pleasure to putt on. A underplayed course for our area for the value.

A Nice-Looking, Medium-Difficulty Course

This is your standard Pittsburgh golf course. Not very long, not a ton of hazards, but fairly inexpensive. Fort Cherry's green fees are a bit more than other similar courses, but it is well-maintained, and the greens are faster than at other courses. Some holes are also just plain nice to look at, especially hole #6, which is just a great looking par-3 with trees lining the left and right.

The snack bar is at the 10th tee, which is a great idea that helps keep play moving. My only complaints are that a few holes have greens that can be ridiculous depending on the pin placement. Holes 9 and 10 most notable... you can have a 2 foot putt that turns into a 15 foot putt if you don't sink it. The course layout is also a bit tight, and you may be frequently going to another hole's fairway to hit your ball. Make sure you get behind the fence on 18, because people on 9 are teeing off right behind you.

Overall a decent value on a course that's well-maintained and a bit more difficult than others like it.

K.I.S.S. golf

Fort Cherry is a no frills golf course for the everyman. While no hole is truly remarkable, each hole is unique and stands on its own. A few holes have parallel fairways so keep on your toes. However, there are enough chanllenges to entertain everyone from a novice hacker to a high single digit handicapper.
