Still a work in progress but always loved this course and it looks like the new ownership is really trying to upgrade everything. The new golf carts are equipped with gps, bluetooth speakers and ball and club washer and are nicer than anything we have in state college. Friendly people and a fun course

Nice Place for the Price

This course is maintained very well, and for $20 after 3pm, you really can't beat it. The front nine is definately nicer than the back, but overall, this is a very nice place to get out and shoot.

This course is very average. It's not long, but not short. It has a wide open front nine, with a few "precission" holes to finish up on. #16 is the toughest hole I've ever played. To me, nothing really stands out, but at the same time nothing makes you not want to go back. Therefore, I would say it is average. My only suggestion is that if you want to play this course make sure you go when it is a dry day. The course holds a lot of water and can be very, very swampy. If it rains, make sure you wait about 2 days before going. It will make you visit much more enjoyable.

First and foremost...I played in misty conditions where the fairway was a water hazard and the greens were ponding (all after a severe rain). With that said, I can't speak on the matter of conditions. The greens are not particularly sloped...I can say that. But the course does have a nice lay-out. If you're driving PA 26 to State College, Standing Stone is worth the stop. For $20 with a cart, the price was awesome. The front nine is pretty much open with some water. Hole #8 is steeply uphill and #9 is long though downhill. The cart paths on the front were tremendous...the smoothest I've been on this year. The cart paths on the back were in horrendous shape. There is some slope to deal with on the first five holes of the back nine. My favorite hole was the Par 3 14th with a 175 yard downhill shot into a large green well protected with bunkers. Perhaps seeing all the oranges and yellows in the background (fall) helped the scenery. Holes 15 and 16 are not friendly with hidden water (look at your scorecards before attempting). Hole #16 is one of the worst holes I've ever played. A long tee shot is a must because you really can't lay up within 150 yards due to a pond. And the green is in a very tight spot between trees and Standing Stone Creek. Horrible hole...too difficult for the average player. Other than 16, I really liked this course...for its value and location...hard to beat!
