Bring a Chainsaw

This course is awful. The original 9 holes is magnificient. Then, they added the other 9. Basically it looks like they tried to put 9 holes where they could fit 6. Also, bring a lot of balls if you are a double digit handicap. There are some very difficult holes cut through the forest. Ravines, gullies, creeks, forests, you name it, you have to hit over or around it. I'm fortunate that I hit the ball relatively straight and a long ways because even though I shot a 78 I played with some guys that were so frustrated they said they would never return. Two guys in my group lost at least a dozen balls a piece on the new nine. Plus it was very very soggy when we were there. (Not their fault because it rained very heavily the day before, but it made for an even worse experience.) If you want to give it a hack go and try, but when you tee off over the ravine on #10 then lay up on your second shot in the middle of the fairway and then have to hit it over a tree that is in another ravine in front of the green that is so high you can barely clear it with a SW, you'll probably agree with me. Good Luck!!!

Played here again in May 2008, wasn't going to but had a coupon for a free round of golf. Surprisingly, the course seemed much better. I still think the course needs work and a high handicapper will have a lot of problems. After seeing the improvements, I will consider going back again.

I usually try not to disagree too much with other reviews, but I saw this course a lot different. The front nine was developed in the 20s and the back just added. I liked the back, realizing that it is still five years away from being really legit. It takes some imagination to appreciate the back, but the ravines really don't come into play if you hit a "normal" shot. Only Hole sixteen really frustrated me with a hidden waste area in the middle of the fairway. Hole 10 does present an awkward problem with a ravine and tall tree in the way. Remember that the tree is in the ravine...and it is an awkward spot for a tree...directly in the middle of the ravine. Hole #13 is an odd hole, but having played Whitetail in Franklin County, it's almost a carbon copy of some of the back nine holes there. There is quite a contrast between the front and the back (except 17 and 18), but that was the fun of the course. I paid $25 for the round which I felt was very reasonable. I thought there could have been more traps to challenge...but the greens are realitively small. I stumbled upon three snakes in the high rough on the back nine...almost trampling on 2 copperheads, so if you are a ball hunter...BEWARE! I fully intend to try this course in a few years to see how they've fixed up the back nine...I actually enjoyed those holes better...does take a little imagination though!
