This golf course has made a complete 180 in the past year. I really enjoy this course and I am very glad that they have made the necessary improvements. The staff this year is friendly and accommodating. I definitely recommend the course.

This was our first time playing this course and we were impressed. We came from out of state and did their "stay and play" package. They were very accommodating for our tee times and always asking if we needed anything so that was nice. The course was in great shape for early May. You can tell one or two greens had been bad but are coming along nicely. Great range and paved cart paths topped it off. I will be back!

Wow, what an improvement from last year. Heard that the course was much better, didn't believe it until I saw it with my own eyes. Keep it going!

This course cannot get things together. Poor service in the Pro Shop.. everyone standing around talking, ignoring the customers. Same situation in the restaurant/bar area. My party looked for the superintendent of the course, and no one could locate him.. on a Tuesday? the course itself seemed to be in average shape, should have been much better, due to the wonderful weather mother nature has given us so far this spring.

These people are a joke, they aren't even paying their real estate taxes.. close the doors, call it a night. They will never get this course back to the way it was.. it's an old joke, and it's not funny anymore..

Pittsburgh National used to be my favorite course (when it was called Deer Run), but apparently there were some issues and the course condition deteriorated. However, I just played there recently, and the course is definitely improving...the greens are in decent condition and the fairways are much better than the last time I played there (I believe the course is under new ownership). I also had lunch after my round, and the food and service were both very good. I hope the positive trend continues with the new management and I look forward to playing there next season.

The front nine is pretty easy but the back nine is harder with the rolling hills and water hazards. They just got new ownership and repaired the bunkers so now it is in good shape. The fairways are kept short along with the greens. The rough is punishing along with the many fairway bunkers. There is a lot of space in between the holes. The only downside is that the greens don't stick that much.

This course has tons of potential. I really like the practice facility and even go at times just to work on the range and greens. If the new ownership maintains and cleans up some parts it will be excellent. If not, this is a 1-2 times a year course.

Reviewed August 07, 2008

The course is being updated. Some bunkers were in bad shape. Tee boxes and fairways were okay. Greens ran pretty good. Slow play on a weekday. Overpriced ($50) on a weekday. New GPS carts not there yet. They are building a new cart building for them. Price went up from last year and course did not improve yet. I will wait to go back until they make improvements for the cost of the course.

The former "Deer Run" is under new ownership and have great plans for this course. The greens are rolling better than they have in the past few years, work has begun to return the traps back to a playable condition, the restaurant is open all the time now, and they are allowing beer on the course! They even have a beverage cart. When the GPS carts come in August, this place will be one of the best values in Western PA.

Better bring your A game. A great course 45 minutes outside downtown Pittsburgh.

Challenging but stiff

No Drinking allowed on course and not a very friendly staff. Challenging course for any handicap but not best for trying to have a good time with some friends.
