RFCC is a rustic, historic course along the Allegheny River that is relatively flat for Western PA. The greens are intriguing and fun, and since Bob Ford came on as a consultant beneficial changes have been made to make the course more challenging and playable. There is no pretension, and the prices are fair. Hopefully the community will develop, and the improvements to the club house and other amenities will be put on a fast track. Just a great, warm home course.

I've played River Forest many times as a guest and always enjoyed the layout. The original owner - Wynn Treadway was a visionary in building golf courses and now that I am a member with the new ownership, I'm enjoying this course more than ever. I've seen many improvements over the past few years both on the course and in the Clubhouse. The golf play remains the best and all the members I've met are very proud of the course and how they are treated by the RFCC staff.

I've been invited to play this course several times and I've enjoyed it every time. It's very challenging in that you have to place your shots on several holes. The course is always meticulously manicured and the staff is always gracious and courteous. If I only lived closer, I definitely would be a member.

Make no mistake, this is one of the best designed golf courses in western Pennsylvania. It is a golfers golf course. It is difficult. Don't let the short yardage fool you. You must hit the ball straight, and know how to putt. Otherwise, you lose a stroke behind a tree and face the real probability of a four putt green. Maintenance continues to improve each year since change of ownership several years ago. I've been a member since 1970 and I feel this past season demonstrated the best course conditions ever. If you are a real golfer and want a true golfing challenge from a visually beautiful golf course, come play River Forest.

Has been my favorite for 20+ years. Voted #1 course in the area for the past 5 years. New Pro has added to the value of the membership. Tight course with excellent greens. Great spot for a fund-raiser outing. It's appropriately named - lots of trees and near the river...

This golf course is a shame. It is called a "country club" but it is nothing more than a mediocre public course. The golf course is a joke and is taken care of by a superintendent who has no business caring for a golf course. River Forest runs a sad pro shop that is rarely stocked and does not cater to the younger crowd. The members are unruly and typically do not pay attention to anyone but their foursome. I know this because I used to be employed by River Forest. Not a glorious job by any means but it payed and I was young. There is no real golf professional in the pro shop anymore. Brad Phillips was the best thing that happened to River Forest but the management decided to not rehire him because he brought too much revenue to the club (if that makes sense.) The idea of a membership is thrown totally out the window because basically anyone who wants to play, that has money, can. Also, outings are unorganized and are poorly directed. Overall, play the course if you have the chance because the scenery is very nice and there are some great homes within the golf course area.
