The 9-hole "Edgewood" course at the Edgewood facility in Drums, Pennsylvania features 3,031 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 36. Designed by David W. Gordon, ASGCA, the Edgewood golf course opened in 1979.
Looks like a bomb went off. I know the course is closing, but the fact that they charge money is criminal. Greens are brown. There are no flags in any of the greens. Fairway looks like something out of Jurassic Park. This place is nothing but a crater field.
Under new ownership yet again. Numerous improvements being made. Much improved and always a great layout. Love the back nine.
A previous rater said Edgewood was a tale of two courses. I can't improve on that statement or assessment. My cousin Bob and I drove down to Edgewood from the Binghamton area on 11/22/10. We were met with low 60's temps and lots of sun, which was a definite improvement over the forecast at home. The clubhouse was pretty bare bones (not sure if it's the time of year or like that all the time). The guy at the counter was pleasant enough and they had a $1 per can Bud Light special, so we started off right. The carts were gas and reasonably maintained, but replacement should be on the itinerary for 2011. Course conditions were ok for the time of year, though this doesn't strike me as a "high end" course. The front 9 was mostly forgettable and slightly confusing in places. The back 9 had some REALLY nice holes (12-17) and I would guess that this is where Edgewood members spend most of their time. If I were a local, I'd ask for a half membership and just play the back 9. There's that much of a difference. The real defense at this course are it's greens. We were left scratching our heads on countless occassions when our putts found phantom breaks and rimmed out; OR they would burn the edges and not catch an obvious break. It was a weird experience. All in all it was a day well spent, but we won't be driving an hour and change to play here again.
this course was just fine. difficulty was good. scenery was great. value average. but the outline of the course was very weak. hard to figure out where the next hole"S" were. would play there again
