Under new ownership yet again. Numerous improvements being made. Much improved and always a great layout. Love the back nine.

A previous rater said Edgewood was a tale of two courses. I can't improve on that statement or assessment. My cousin Bob and I drove down to Edgewood from the Binghamton area on 11/22/10. We were met with low 60's temps and lots of sun, which was a definite improvement over the forecast at home. The clubhouse was pretty bare bones (not sure if it's the time of year or like that all the time). The guy at the counter was pleasant enough and they had a $1 per can Bud Light special, so we started off right. The carts were gas and reasonably maintained, but replacement should be on the itinerary for 2011. Course conditions were ok for the time of year, though this doesn't strike me as a "high end" course. The front 9 was mostly forgettable and slightly confusing in places. The back 9 had some REALLY nice holes (12-17) and I would guess that this is where Edgewood members spend most of their time. If I were a local, I'd ask for a half membership and just play the back 9. There's that much of a difference. The real defense at this course are it's greens. We were left scratching our heads on countless occassions when our putts found phantom breaks and rimmed out; OR they would burn the edges and not catch an obvious break. It was a weird experience. All in all it was a day well spent, but we won't be driving an hour and change to play here again.

Nothing too special as far as the clubhouse goes. Decent layout with lots of water (if you're not accurate) and lots of bunkers guarding the greens on some holes.

My foursome had an enjoyable round and will be back.

Edgewood in the Pines has some very mundane holes and some very exciting holes. It’s a
tale of two courses. Some holes (like the first four) were very boring and straight
forward. Get away from the clubhouse area and the holes were interesting and
challenging. A number of the back nine holes offered some challenge with water involved
(#14, #15, #17, and #18).. The course was not exactly in great shape, but it was easy to
look past some of those quirks. Check out the crooked pine tree off the 6th tee.

This is really a TERRIBLE golf course. I've never been treated so poorly at a course in my life. AVOID

Bad day in the grass

I just recently went to this golf course and I can honestly say it will be the last. The course was in terrible condition and it wasn't due to the recent flooding in the area. The fairways were covered with lines of cut grass that must have been there for a week. The sand traps had new piles of sand that were exactly that...piles. There appeared to be no attempt to fix the traps which were loaded with stones. Most of the tee boxes were missing the white tee area but they had all the other tee areas. And the course ranger was absolutely worthless. There was no enforcement of reasonable playing speed. My one round with a foursome took over 5 hours to play due to the fact that the foursome in front of us played so slow and I saw the ranger pass by at least 3 or 4 times during the course of play. I was looking forward to playing this course when I first found out that my group was playing there and needless to say I was very disappointed after my round. It was one of the few times I was happy to slam my trunk to go home.
