The 9-hole "White" course at the Buck Hill Falls facility in Canadensis, Pennsylvania features 3,239 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 36. Designed by Robert White, ASGCA, the White golf course opened in 1926.
Played this course May 21, 2013. The condition of the tee boxes, fairways and greens was outstanding. The course is extremely playable with no forced carries, very little water and bunkers that were well situated but not unduly penal. The staff was very friendly and helpful...didn't see any rangers or cart attendants, but we didn't see more than half a dozen other golfers. The dining area is quaint, old school comfortable. This is how a 'country club' in the mountains of Pennsylvania should look and feel. And, the price was more than reasonable. Not easy to find, but if you are anywhere near Buck Hill Falls, Pa and looking for a great experience, make the effort and go to this fine venue.
Played this course, white tees, Sept. 2012. Almost everything about this course and club is top-notch. Course is 100+ years old and clubhouse/grounds are 30's WPA style construction. Lots and lots of stone around. Staff treatment was excellent although dining facility, that I saw, was not overly impressive. Course fairly difficult to locate so give yourself time. Very interesting course with a lot of elevation changes. Used tee-time book so got exceptional value for my foursome. I have played about 900 courses in my lifetime and this course ranks in the top 5%.
My cousin Bob and I drove down from the Binghamton, NY area to play the course on 10/25/10. We played the blue course to white course rotation. The white course was as well maintained as the blue course, but lacked it's "wow" factor. The white is a much flatter and more conventional course, which also makes it a little more forgiving. It has an abundance of homes in sight of the fairways, whereas the blue did not. We didn't have a chance to play the red course this time, but will make it a point for a return trip in the spring. Buck Hill is definitely worth your time and money. Please see my review of the blue course for additional details.
