The 36-hole "The Meadows Golf & C.C." course at the The Meadows Golf & Country Club facility in Ottawa, Ontario features all the hallmarks of Ontario golf. The Meadows Golf & C.C. golf course opened in 1997.
The Meadows Golf Country Club is a public course with private membership options. It’s a scenic course that’s been cut into a forest.A unique feature of this course is that it actually consists of four 9-hole courses. So, you can play an 18 hole round or even 36 if you want. The North course is the most difficult of the four. You’ll find lots of narrow, tree-lines holes with doglegs. So, you’ll mostly be focusing on your aim in this round without too much worry about other hazards. Doglegs will be your biggest challenge on this course. Overall, the course is in decent condition. Insects (mosquitoes and black flies) can be a problem at the peak of Summer. The biggest drawbacks of this course are the very slow pace of play and the cost. It takes 5+ hours to play 18 holes, and it’s $80 with cart ($50 for twilight golf.) Very expensive in my opinion for a course that isn’t unique or challenging enough to warrant that price. At the moment, they are even making golfers from the same household use separate carts due to the pandemic. The clubhouse is bare bones. The food at the restaurant isn’t very good. The staff can be rude and the marshall hovers. There is a nice terrace to enjoy a drink on for your 19th hole. This is a nice course to play in Fall when the leaves change color. I wouldn’t bother in the Summer because of the bugs and because it gets way too busy. The cost is also a problem, they should really consider dropping the price.
