A really tight course, but pretty short with several short holes, two of the par 3's were under 100 yards. But for $28, a real steal.

Fun course.

This course is an interesting little jewel in stillwater. The driving range is lacking in that you hit 80% floating balls into a pond that is poorly yardage marked. The front nine is an exciting out. The back is a tough very tight switchback of holes that requires all the clubs in your bag. The greens have been well maintained, but they hold the one flaw this course has and that is the Lindsey architect included a stupid little knob in the middle of some the greens.

Good and bad

The Links at Stillwater has some very good points and some not so good. One not so good is the driving range, which is a lake which means you're hitting floaters so you can't tell distance. Another bad is that some holes are poorly arranged so you end up having to cross in front of people teeing off to get to your hole/ball. With that said, the course can be very challenging despite being short (6258 from far back tees) because there are some very tight fairways and there are a lot of mature trees on the course. Much of the course was built around what was a naturally heavily wooded area close to Boomer Lake, so the scenery is great and there is a lot of wildlife. Course slope from the back tees (black) is 126 with a rating of 71.2, so it is well above the national average. Well worth a try.

Tight and Challenging

The Links has become a very busy course. It is free to residents of the surrounding apartments and unfortuantely you will see many non-golfers on the course playing in flip flops and not observing any of the standard golf rules. Many of these student golfers share clubs and play with the range balls, which is illegal and unmonitored. There are no course marshalls. The greens have deteriorated significantly this year. The greens keeper appears to be in way over his head. Still, this is a good value if you can play during the off hours.

Great Golfing Community

Very nice 9 holes with another 9 coming soon. Great for students in the area who like to play golf or who are learning (like myself) since golf is free for residents. Definitely not as crowded as other local courses..I have played on a Saturday and not had anyone in front of me or behind me waiting, and I can be a little slow (since I am just learning the game)
