Good course for a good price. Especially for college students. Ask for the discount! Greens are fast but exciting and some of the views are just gorgeous. Highly suggest coming here and checking it out.

Greens are decent, most of the fairways are rock hard.Overpriced for what it is (IMO).#6 and #7 are fun. All in all, I would rather drive to Seminole or Shawnee for a golf outing.

We recently visited Lakewood Golf Course in August of 2008 and thought that much needed to be added to the above review. Since the last review new ownership has taken over and many improvements made on the course itself. Most notably the putting greens. The new owners have compeletly rebuilt the 9 greens and planted them with Tiff Eagle Berumuda and they were in excellent shape! The course itself is absolutely beautiful, although they have had more than the normal share of rain in their area for the summer, the hard work and dedication of the new owners has really made this course enjoyable to play. The course was clean and well kept and the fairways green. The pro shop while still the old original building was clean and freshly painted and much needed remodeling done in the public restrooms. The owners were very friendly and accomodating and eager to share their vision for the future of Lakewood Golf Course. While still under planning for renovations to the proshop, I would highly recommend playing this course, the beautiful hills and long fairways, the elevated greens, the lake with suspending bridge, all makes for a wonderful fun playing time and gorgeous scenery.

gem - needs a little polishing

This is a very interesting course. Lots of up and down, nicely arranged around some water. A nice mix of long and short holes. Beautiful scenery in a hilly area you would not expect in this part of Oklahoma. They have put in a new green at number 8 and did a good job. At one time it must have been a jewel, complete with a suspension bridge with candy-stripe painted supports. Most of the greens are elevated and require a fine hand with a pitching wedge. The principal problem is what appears to be a lack of maintenance. The course is very trashy. It looks like the folks who play there often cannot bring themselves to put their empty beer cans and soda cans and cigarette packs and other stuff in the trash cans, and the staff can't get the trash cans emptied and can't pick up trash as they travel around the course. The suspension bridge is in sad shape (you have to wonder about safety) and the little amenities (like the candy-striped supports) have been allowed to rust, and old machinery is just sitting around as if abandoned. The greens are really struggling here in 2006 (although to be fair, it has been a drought year and almost every golf course in this part of the country is having trouble) and one green is completely closed and another is essentially unplayable. With some attention and some tender loving care, this could be a wonderful course. It remains to be seen if management returns this course to the little gem it once was.
