The Links At Firestone Farms, Columbiana, OH

Last week was the second time that I have played Firestone Farms. The first time (about 4 or 5 years ago), the course was in pretty rough shape. This year, I had heard that it had recovered and was in pretty nice shape. A buddy went on GolfNow and got a CHEAP rate, so it was a low risk/high reward type of course. I was pleasantly surprised! The course was in very nice shape, the people that we dealt with in the pro shop, snack bar, and starter were very nice (the starter even gave us a few free range balls due to a back up on the tee).

The course was in very nice condition considering the summer that we have had (lack of rain and extreme heat). The course has some difficult holes, some long par 4s, a couple long par 3s (from the back tees), and some challenging par 5s. The course markings weren't the greatest, which, combined with my inexperience with the course, cost me probably 3 or 4 strokes throughout the round.
I have every intention of going back...this time sooner rather than later!

Lots of unique holes that make you think and give you a variety of ways to play them. Holes are well spaced out so you will rarely hear "FORE". I hope to chalk it up to the dry spell and hot weather we are having, but it seemed the course has seen better days...lots of beat up fairways and the greens looked diseased. I initially played the course about a year after it opened and it was immaculate, cant say the same for my most recent trip. Despite that, I would still tell anyone to give it a run at least once.
