Hillcrest Golf Course in Johnstown, Ohio, is a fun 9-hole course that’s been a staple in the area since 1952. If you’re looking to get in a quick nine in under a couple of hours, it’s a great place to go. Even though it’s a 9-hole course there is some challenge out there with a couple of blind holes that you’ll benefit from playing a second time.
If you play the back (blue) tees, Hillcrest Golf Course maxes out at 2,238 yards with a slope of 80, 32.8 rating, and par 34. The par 3s are relatively short at 145, 125, and 125 yards, and don’t present much green-side trouble, so they each present a scoring opportunity. If you’re a long hitter you have a chance to hit most of the par 4s from the tee, but you’ll be in trouble or in another fairway on misses. Hole No. 8 is the only par 5, measuring 424 yards. Altogether, it’s not a tough course but you better hit it straight or you’ll be punching out from the trees all day. Hillcrest Golf Course is super convenient because it’s close to Columbus right near where routes 37 and 62 meet. Johnstown is a fairly quiet town, so the course is never really that crowded. If you don’t feel like playing golf, Hillcrest also features one of the most popular restaurants around Johnstown, you can just go there for the crispy and delicious pizza. And, don’t skip the chicken and bacon wrap. The staff in the bar and in the golf shop are great, it’s definitely worth a visit, you’ll be back to either play or eat again.
