I usually play this course because it is relatively inexpensive and close to home. Most of the holes are playable with just a driver and wedge. Hole 7 is just evil, try and hit it short of the green because if you go long you'll have a challenge on the green.

Played this course for the first time today. Not bad at all. The front is open and short. the back is more scenic, tighter and longer. Some nice holes and some not so nice. The greens were in good shape, the fairways fair to good. It was interesting enough that I will play it again.

An outstanding value with plenty of great views that will satisfy players of all skill levels. Nothing very fancy here, as there is very little water and almost no sand to navigate. But there is an overabundance of lumps, bumps, hills and trees. The numerous elevation changes make it a course that requires a cart to play 18 unless you're in EXCELLENT condition or part mountain goat. But they also provide some incredible views of the "Greater Binghamton" area. Also check this place out in the spring and fall for some teriffic golf with highly discounter rates. Locker room, small pro shop, bar & resturant, putting green and driving range complete this facility.

Ely Park Municipal golf course

Ely Park is a straightforward muni track with an occassional surprise thrown in to make it interesting. Recent upgrades to irrigation, drainage and cart paths promise to make it a more enjoyable golfing experience. The views from the top of the course (Holes #2,7,8, and 15)are breathtaking. The front 9 is pretty open, and the back 9 is pretty tight. The greens can be a monster to hold when they get dry and the rough was imported from The US Open. You won't find much sand here, but there are some grass bunkers. My biggest gripe is hole #7, whose legality is suspect due to it being a pint sized two tiered green on top of a hill. In summary, you could do far worse things with four hours of spare time than to golf Ely Park.
