Paying $120 for a round of golf is not something you'll often see me do. Since I was going to Vegas with a possible return date of "never", I figured I should make the most of it. I chose Red Rock Arroyo based on the reviews on this site, the course website photos and the google-earth flyover. I wasn't disappointed. Right from the get-go, the staff made me feel welcome. The cart guy loaded my clubs from the car onto the cart and set me up with a moist towel for club cleaning. Then he walked me inside and introduced me to the guy behind the counter for check-in. I had gotten there early and was able to enjoy a really nice and reasonably priced breakfast, followed by a little practice on their small (but well conditioned) putting green. You also have the option to hit range balls. I was teamed up with a Swede named Daniel and a couple of locals. The starter takes you up to the first tee and gives you some nice info. on the course before turning you loose...The course was in great shape and everything that I would have expected for the money. The views were stunning and memorable (bring a camera). We all played reasonably and weren't rushed or waiting on any tees. Triplus (the god of 3-putts) made a special guest appearance on a number of holes just to keep me humble. The greens can chew you up with their speed and subtle breaks. All greens seem to be well guarded by sand, so keep your wedge handy. At the end of the day I had a couple pints of fat-tire beer and a good salad with Daniel while he awaited his ride. This is a course and experience I'm not likely to forget...

Good course, great value. Very challenging for a high handicapper like me but doesnt beat you up to the point of not being fun.

Just played a round on Oct 30, 2008. Course was not in good condition. Aerated fairways, damage fairways from poor drainage, new/recent sod laid down and not well integrated into the fairways. Given the timing of this being peak season, I would have expected a better condition for this golf course given the price.

Overall a nice course, but all these downsides for peak season prices was disappointing. Try twilight rates if you want to play.

Won't comment on value as my casino compatriots play at a discounted rate, but this is one of my favorite courses in Vegas. They have completely fixed (finally) the 16th and 17th holes with new sod and some added desert landscaping (surprise. that use to be fairway). Nestled against the red rock mountains, the place can be eerily quiet. The scenery...stunning! The arroyo clubhouse is sufficient, a few racks of clothing, seating for 40 or so in the dining room and the practice green right outside.
The course is well maintained, the greens are true, and the staff has done a great job in getting the course in great shape for Spring. There are plenty of great courses to play in Vegas, but I'll always recommend the Arroyo.
