36 par | 3,345 yards
The 9-hole "Arroyo Course" at the Isleta Eagle Golf Club facility in Albuquerque, New Mexico features 3,345 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 36.Designed by Bill Phillips, the Arroyo Course opened in 2015.
I come to Albuquerque annually to play golf and I always play the three nines at Isleta GC. This year I was disappointed at the condition of the course on 5/13/2015. After teeing off on number 1, and arriving at the green I discovered that the greens had been sanded either that very day or the day before. The sand had not been spread evenly and was still so thick that golfers left footprints in the sand on the greens. The sand was also so uneven that the ball slowed down or sped up as it traversed the differing patches of sand. The ball actually kicked up "rooster tails" of sand as it rolled towards the hole. I invoked my 2-putt rule since putting and expecting to make any was a "waste of time." My 2-putt rule is that the second putt is always good.Isleta is usually in very good condition so it does seem out of the ordinary for the greens to be in such poor shape. There were also a couple of holes that had large portions of fairway that were designated as ground under repair and we were not allowed to play from the area. I was not informed of any of this before I paid my greens fee and once on the course it was essentially too late to do much about it since golf courses do not refund cash. They will only give you a raincheck. Since this was my last day in Albuquerque before returning to Houston, a raincheck was not a practical solution for me.
Great course. Excellent staff. Great scenery. Course in excellent shape. Expensive for what you get.
Wow. What a difference a year makes... Greens were bare dirt in many places. Tee boxes like hell. Two years ago it was mint. Now it has gone to hell. Sad but this Pueblo seems to build and abandon...
