Course Reviews

One adult, an 11yr old and one 8 year old with cart on a Thursday afternoon for 70.50 WTF!!!!! After speaking with the owner I then received 7.50 back for a total price to play at 63.00. My two boys love the course however I think we will find some other place to play thats more affordable for a father bringing his two children to learn the game.

As everyone has said, this course is a nice short course with great scenery. Watch out for the turtles that frequent the fairways. This price is good, not great, for such a short course, but the holes are interesting enough that it's a must play course even if it's just for a time or two. No logo balls which is a huge detractant for me, but otherwise not bad. Overall rating a B+.

I've been playing this course since I was 12 years old. Now a lot older I still love coming to Eastlyn. What a difference from about 5 years back since the new owners took over. The new golf super is doing a great job getting this course back into shape, no more bare spots around the greens and fair ways. It seems like the Buono family is putting lots of time and money back into the course to get it right. My favorite hole is number 8 which I have not dirdied yet, one day it's a 235 par 4 with a water hazard on the right about where most peoples tee shots land. You can take out the driver a go for it but, it's tight and when most do they end up in trouble. I usually take out my 5 iron and lay up then a nice pitch to the green and hope to get it close enough for bird. Over all this place a great to sharpen your skills and very resonable in price. They just purchased new carts too, the old one had some issues but it seems like this course is on the right track. The Greenview Inn restaurant is delicous, and a great spot for private affairs.

Because the course is small and the greens are small and well guarded, a good short game is a must. The problem at Eastlyn is that many areas around the greens need alot of maintenance. There are so many bare spots and inconsistent turf. I constantly felt pressured to move my ball to a fair lie in order to execute the required short game shot. If the turf was consistent, you would have a chance to execute many of the challenging shots required. Example: at eastlyn, short lob shots are often needed to clear a bunker and stop quickly at a tight pin position. Difficult, but possible with fair playing conditions. My ball often would come to rest on bare dirt around the greens making a lob shot impossible. This took the fun out of the game because I never move my golf ball to accomodate a shot. But this just isn't fair. I did move my ball but would have to go back several yards to find grass. Now the shot was completely different and not where it should have been which is unfair to my score. If a golf course's designed challenge is to make golfers execute difficult short game shots, than the course must provide the player good conditions around the greens. Eastlyn does not provide this.

Easy and Fun

I too learned to golf on this course and shot my first under par score here. All the par 3's, which is almost every hole, require no more then a pitching wedge or at most a 9 iron but great holes to fine tune your short game. Its great to see a golf course charging a green fee of $25 these days. I live in north Jersey now and can't touch a course for under $100. I'd love to play this course again some day. FYI, for you long hitters, the 18th is very reachable in one shot.

i rate this course a little higher then i probably should because this is a special place to me. i learned to play golf on this course and that is probably why i have the bad habits that i have today. i am a member of white oaks c.c. in newfield but i still am drawn back to eastlyn.it is a short par three to which only one word can explain. FUN! many holes are pitching wedge or nine iron off the tee which puts many of your first shots near the pin. the course itself is like walking thru a park. if it werent 28 degrees right now i wouldent mind playing the course today. if you are a beginner this is realy a good place to play..there are zero holes which are overbearing visualy..i believe that the longest hole is around 350yds. most holes are easy to manage. eastlyn is also a wonderful course to play after work. it doesnt take four and a half hours to play and it is affordable.. great place to play with a buddy and have lunch and a drink in a very nice club house facility. if your looking for a fun golf experience with good ammenities, go to eastlyn..

Short course, good warmup for the season or a good course to stay limber. Great for tuning the short game. Well-kept fairways and greens, not a lot of water or sand. Keep the driver in your bag until the 18th hole. Nice short course good for walking. Also a great value at $15 weekdays.

Short game tuner

Want to improve your short game? This is your course. Not too much difficulty, but again good for the short game.I rate this course higher than the actuall playing conditions warrant because I enjoy playing here. However, if you enjoy a good meal and a drink after playing you won't get it....IT WILL BE EXCELLENT....The chef, and yes that what he should be called,is very good. Better,in fact, than some finer courses I have played. It's worth the greens fees, which are very low, just to come and eat.
