Course Reviews

Conditions tee to green are very good, however, I have never seen such poorly conditioned bunkers in my life. Nothing but rock hard clay and when you rake them, all you hear are the stones underneath.

Played on a tuesday during the summer with the PA discount. Nice pro shop and practice facility. The course was in great shape and the layout was challenging but in a good way. Glad I played the discounted rate. The course while very nice is overpriced for standard rates. In my opinion courses like Morgan Hill and Olde Homestead have just as nice a layout for a far more reasonable price.

Great course! Fun holes, in good shape even in mid-October, and offers a good challenge to every level of golfer.

Great Course. Holes varied quite a bit. Course did show wear but played in September.
Would recommend afternoon play for discounted rate.

I played this course on a weekend and payed the full $110 for the round. After playing the course, i didn't think it was worth the full $110. To me the course played more like a $75 course. To see my full review of the Architects as well as other courses in NJ go to my website:

This used to be a nice course. From a design standpoint it still is, but they've obviously cut back on services and maintenance. Fairways and greens showing wear and tear more like a muni - but at resort prices.

Great course well worth the money highly recommended

best course for your money

I enjoyed eating rats here

Everyone else hit the nail on the head. Great course layout and great conditions. I love 13 - you will feel like you are at Augusta (OK not quite but close). Everytime I play here, the rough is brutal, so STAY OUT OF IT! Only complaint is sometimes the pace of play can be slow. For whatever reason there is often 1,2, even 3 group backups on some par 3's. Also, the high primetime weekend rate is a bummer. I've played probably 100 courses in all price ranges. I don't think this is a $119 course. So we usually only play here during off-season and/or off-peak hours where you can get some GREAT rates. Check them out.

Great Course! I just re-read my comments on Morgan Hill (Easton, PA) because I simply cannot rate this course lower. In fact, gun to head I'd say we prefer this course more. It is very payable, the scenery is beautiful (especially at dusk with the hot air baloons overhead) and attendants keep play moving. No course layout on the scorecards/not being able to see the pin is a fair criticism. So too is the comment on the price - you're better off playing off-hours. I will also say that this is obviously a very popular course because a number of the fairways are beginning to show a fair amount of wear and tear. All holes are very interesting and most are forgiving to those like us who tend to spray shots all over. Beware the high grass: Hit it there and your ball is history. Nice pro shop and restaurant has a comfortable, "clubby" feeling to it. Overall a great experience.

You will think your on the Tour

This course is Awesome. It is kept in immaculate condition with a wide variety of grass types creating challenging play. The course was very exciting to play. Every hole was created after famous architects styles creating a vast array of challenges.

The only thing I disliked, as MDH400 said, the lack hole layout on scorecards and plaques was frustrating and on more than one hole i had to drive half way down the fair way to see where the hole went before i teed off. The only way to get the hole layouts is to purchase a course description booklet in the pro-shop. Kind of Annoying, but easily fixable

Overall, an excellent course. If i was going to get a membership to a public course, this would be the one

Very Nice Course

The clubhouse is now finished and is looking good. Excellent food after the front nine. The course was in immaculate condition and was one of the best tended courses I have played. I enjoyed the variation of styles on the holes and it gave each hole a different type of challange. My only complaint, it was my first time playing architects and from nearly all of the tees the pins were not visible. For some reason Architects has not put the hole layout on either the scorecards or the plaques at the beginning of the holes. This caused quite a bit of frustration, something that I hope they correct.

Not Just Another "Honors" course

The Architects was built to honor the design signatures of prominent golf architects of the 19th and 20th centuries. Instead of merely copying 18 famous holes built by the giants of golf course architecture, they have taken a more thoughtful approach by creating holes reflective of that man’s style. Fairway placement, bunkering, the green and hazards are all interwoven to highlight the philosophy of the architect’s design for that hole. Steven Kay has done a remarkable job in capturing the nuances of each architect and seamlessly integrated it into the property; an outstanding treat for those of us who appreciate such things. For those of us who could care less, the golf is just spectacular! They have nice practice facility and provide a warm up pail of balls as part of the daily fee. The course is maintained to very high levels and the staff is very friendly and accommodating. The course layout is fantastic and provides some beautiful views. Amenities have been scored low but they are building a new club house (set to finish in Oct,2006) that will round this club out to a yearly must play course
