I was shocked to find this course, I needed to find a local course and I found this one online. The reviews were not very good but the location was convenient, so I decided to try it and was blown away with how off the reviews were of this place! The people who run this site need to keep the reviews up to date, because this course is a very fun challenging course! They have obviously made some very big changes. This will now become my home course.

Not a top rated course and doesn't pretend to be. For the average golfer, shooting 90+, this is a satifying course. They have made substantial improvements over the last five years, and the employees now take a great deal more pride in their work. Don't expect a country club, and you'll likely enjoy it.

This is a New Jersey public course owned and operated by the County of Essex. In recent years the County has put a lot of money into it. The clubhouse entrance has been revamped and there is now a cafe inside. There has also been a lot of money put into the course. It has received much needed improvements. Nonetheless, there are still wide fairways, with thin rough, and the greens do not break much-if at all. If you have not played this course in several years it is worth playing again to see the improved clubhouse, fairways and greens.

Just another course where you would go if there was no other option... I go there due to the fact that it is nearby and I have a county card which makes it somewhat worthwhile... if you hit straight the you can score very well. But don't let it totally drive you away as I have played courses that are in much worse shape...

The staff was friendly and wasted now time getting me on the first tee The fairways were in piss poor condition and the greens the slowest I have ever experienced. The bunkers were more like water hazards on acid, very bizarre. All in a challenge to say the least. I shot a 98, not bad since I did not know the course at all. I heard other groups complaining that the rough was like a PGA tour course very lush and thick. I guess you could say this course was like NEW YORK CITY, if you can play there you can play anywhere.

worst corse by far i play. only reason i continue to play is $ factor, but even that has gotten to a point where its not much of a difference to play the beautiful Morris county courses. would not recommend to even the most novice golfer

This course is terribly maintained. The residents of Essex county who choose to play at this so called golf course should boycott. It's not worth the money.
I played with a friend of mine who lives in the next county and we both had to pay the rediculous price of $34.00 each for just 9 holes of golf. I've played better courses in the Bronx. The managers of this course should be ashamed of them-selves.

Violated

This has to be the biggest travesty for Essex County. For a non-resident membership, it's $250.00 to join. But the problem is you play in the equivilent of a regular County park and you are charged the regular rate with the membership taking place after 1:00pm! I thought you were supposed to welcome out of towners? They have some real corrections to make. For such a huge non-resident rate, you should be treated the same as a resident like Weequahic Park does.
