I was shocked to find this course, I needed to find a local course and I found this one online. The reviews were not very good but the location was convenient, so I decided to try it and was blown away with how off the reviews were of this place! The people who run this site need to keep the reviews up to date, because this course is a very fun challenging course! They have obviously made some very big changes. This will now become my home course.
Not a top rated course and doesn't pretend to be. For the average golfer, shooting 90+, this is a satifying course. They have made substantial improvements over the last five years, and the employees now take a great deal more pride in their work. Don't expect a country club, and you'll likely enjoy it.
This is a New Jersey public course owned and operated by the County of Essex. In recent years the County has put a lot of money into it. The clubhouse entrance has been revamped and there is now a cafe inside. There has also been a lot of money put into the course. It has received much needed improvements. Nonetheless, there are still wide fairways, with thin rough, and the greens do not break much-if at all. If you have not played this course in several years it is worth playing again to see the improved clubhouse, fairways and greens.
