I play The Shattuck about 2-3 times per year and every time I say I won't play it again after I leave but I always go back. I play at a USGA 5 Hdc but this place puts me at around a 12. Super tight, trouble everywhere but it is such a great experience. I have never played it anywhere but from the tips so to string a few pars and a birdie here and there makes you feel great. Do not try and overpower this course because it will kill you. I hit driver on maybe 3 holes the entire day and made bogey or worse on all 3. Good luck playing here but I always enjoy it whether I shoot 88 or 78.

All the previous reviews in 2007 & 2008 are spot-on and that stands today. You need to control shot placement and distance. Great value, and employees. Beautiful scenery. Cart paths are rough! One of the most challenging courses i've played, but most fun. Worth a round if you are in the vicinity.

I live 20 minutes from the shattuck. That being said I only play there a few times a year. It is by far my favorite course in the Keene area. One of the problems I have is that I find it VERY hard to get other people to play there with me. This course will add at least 7 shots to your average score.

I personally LOVE the course and love the challenge. I do not think that courses that are wide open do anything for your game. At the shattuck you need to know how far you can hit your clubs. If you mis-judge the yardage ... you are going to pay.

From the white tees you really only should use your driver about 3 times (depending on your length) but if you drive 250+ ... than 3 times is about right. There are a couple of holes that "Dare" you to drive the green. The 13th and 17th. Both reachable .... but missing with a 3W or driver is going to hurt.

The best way to play the Shattuck is to take what the course will give you ... if that means teeing off with a 7 iron so you have a wedge into the green .. do it.

I'll stop now ... I could talk all day about the Shattuck. This course is worth a 4 hr drive. EVERYONE must play the Shattuck once.

Not a course for the occassional golfer or duffer! Play conservative and to the fairway markers and you'll score well......don't and "hope you bring a lot of ammo!!"

First of all, if you come here looking for amenities this is not the place. They have a nice grille room with a small bar and a nice pro shop but that's about it. BUT THE GOLF !! Played on 7/3/07, Tuesday, because on Monday & Tuesday they have an "all you can" deal. For 55$ you get to play all you can with a cart AND a small buffet lunch !! This course is at the base of Mt. Manadnock so the scenery is real nice. The course itself was mint. Lush fairways, great tees, and terrific greens. BRING YOUR A GAME. This is target golf at it's best. There is a lot of waste area on EVERY hole, so if you spray the ball more than you like bring lots of them !! This is a beutiful course, yeah it's a tough track, but a lot of fun to play. I'll be back SOON.

Best Course Around

I played this course for the first time this week and I am still telling myself how i should have played in order to lower my score. I was truely amazed at what the course had to offer. Being a new player to the course, i found the "target markers" very helpful (although I probably should have listened to them more often). The Shattuck has become one of, if not the best course I've ever played. Its emphasis is not exactly on how far you can bomb it, but rather how auccurate you can keep it. Its goal was achieved, to make you play golf the way it was meant to be play. The important thing to keep in mind (at least for me)that par will suffice in any situation. I will be playing The Shattuck for my college golf team and I can not wait for the next time i can play the course! Great job to the Sterling Golf Managment group for putting together one of the best courses ever!
