You can tell alot of the reviews are from employees or owners. This place has an awsome clubhouse. Course, WAY overpriced. Go have dinner, just don't waist you cash on golf.

The first thing you notice in pulling up to Wilderness Ridge is the gigantic, gorgeous clubhouse. The course is very nice and the rates are fair. It is very well designed and challenging, but the course is played so often that there is a lot of wear on the fairways and greens. A lot of money was spent on landscaping, some of which is nice and some looks pretty fake. Overall, a challenging course that I have enjoyed playing all three times I have played it.

Awards well deserved....

Just by driving up to Wilderness Ridge Golf Club, you can tell it is going to be a special day. The clubhouse is outstanding. Antlers for the door handles tell the story. Nice staff. Cart and range balls are included with your green fees which are nice. A few fairways were a bit tore up but I can't complain since all the others were in great condition for this time of the year. Greens were in excellent condition. Not hard to read the breaks on the greens but they are a bit hilly with ridges so taking your time when putting is key. The greens are pretty fast compared to the average course and the pin placements were generous. The best part of WR is the landscaping done around their water hazards. The big boulders and rocks they put along their streams really make the course look sharp. I wish I could live in some of the houses sourrounding the course.

One of Nebraska's finest...

With four tee opportunities, everyone can enjoy Wilderness Ridge, though playing from the tips at WR can really make for a challenging round. With bent grass tees, fairways and greens this course is a great change of pace than most other public-accessible courses in the area. Greens are always in great condition, and are much faster than area courses. Lots of elevation changes make for sidehill, uphill and downhill lies on approach shots common. Most greens have great hills and undulations and the course difficulty all depends upon pin location. You really have to think your way through the course, especially on your second shots because even to be on the green, but on the wrong level, can bring a 3-putt quickly. Water comes into play on most holes, though is never as threatening as much as it seems. Fairways are generally wide and inviting, and playing with the typical south wind you can easily reach all three par 5s as they all play downwind (and 9 and 14 play downhill as well.) Though the course is surrounded by houses, the O.B. never really comes into play. The finish on this course is great, three challenging par 4s finishing with the walk up 18 next to the lake and waterfalls as the Lodge is in the background. The most overlooked part of this course, however, is the practice area. They have a driving range that is better than most, as well as the Nebraska Golf Academy. They also have a Giant practice green which, opposed to most area courses, actually runs the same speed as the course greens. However, WR also boasts a 30-yard practice fairway, bunker and practice green to practice all the short game shots you would need. The executive course is a great course for new players to the game, or for the high-handicappers. Greens are much more flat and pin locations are much more inviting. Fairways are still wide open, but it still maintains the WR style with lots of streams and lakes running through, and bentgrass tees, fairways and greens. It also has a good mix of Par 3s, 4s and even a par 5. Between the great, professionally-styled course, the wonderful amenities (including great pro-shop, lounge, locker room and private cafe- just for the golfers) not to mention the expansive veranda with grill and restaurant just upstairs, the experience at the Lodge is not one that you will be quick to forget, and one that you will surely want to have again.

Not what I had hoped for, but pretty good

I had heard a lot of great reviews on this place. I drove down from Omaha to check it out recently. The amenities are hard to beat! Club house is awesome. The course has a lot of nice work into. Nice rock lined streams, well maintained bunkers. Greens are pretty good, one of the tee boxes was being repaired. The downfalls being all the houses in the area. They are far enough from the fairways that they don't become an issue but it distracts from the course itself. Another minor issue is the cart paths intersect each other constantly and at times there are no markings to tell you the direction to the next hole
