The course was totally redone in 2014. The greens are the new Bermuda that's working so well in the south. They are fast and true.Lots of sand traps were added and it's a true test of golf. I live in virginia but I was there in June and the course was in excellent condition. Dollar for dollar you can't beat the Muni.

Played the Wilmington Muni on Friday July 18, 2008. I had always heard that the Wilmington Muni was pretty decent for a muni so as I was by myself that day I decided to give it a try. It was actually pretty bad and disappointing. Before the local people get up in arms I did only have to pay $22 to walk 18 holes as a non local so it is not a bad value all things considered. The greens were the biggest diappointment as they were very very bumpy and thin, in several spots there was just smooth dirt with no grass at all. Most of the bunkers looked horrible with no edging done around them and just terrible sand and upkeep. Trying to keep positive about the course though; the best thing it can be used for is for young kids and novices who don't play very much at all. Most of the people don't dress accordingly and although they were very nice, the threesome I was paired with never filled in any divots or fixed any marks on the green, which they took hefty divots with their drivers from the tee boxes. Nothing against them personally, they just don't play very much or very well so you get what you pay for. I'm a 12 handicap and was able to reach most of the par fives from the back tees in two. I doubt I would ever play there again and I can't believe that the city tries to bill this as a Donald Ross course. Even though he may have designed it, I've seen trailer parks that have better lawn maintenance.

Would have been a better golf outing except they were spraying chemicals in and out of the golfers most of the time we were there.Terrible greens, bumpy and thin!

Now that this course has been fixed up it is a very good golf course. This is the perfect course for kids just begining to play or teens who just want to have fun. For kids 16 and under it is just $7. That is one price that you cant beat. So bring your child and get the interested in the great game of golf.

This is a good Donald Ross course that you can play for $35! Maintenance, for years terrible, is now good, and Ross's bunkers and waste areas have been restored. Its par-5s are a little short, perhaps, for good golfers, but a fine challenge throughout. (And, yes, it is crowded.)

Passing By

First time playing there and the local residents are good ambassadors to the city and to the sport. Been playing for less than a year, so at this point all courses are challenging to my skill level. Good walking course

Nice course for being public

The course on a nice day is normally very crowded, so take some extra time to ensure you will be able to finish. Also be cautious if it has rained recently, because the course floods.
