Played the Landing Course for the first time on 6/4/2014. This entire facility is one of the best in NC and probably the best in the eastern part of the state.
The club house is exceptional. A beautiful building that has everything. The staff was very friendly and accommodating and the practice facilities first rate. The Landing course was in excellent condition and the tee boxes, fairways and bunkers were all very well kept. The sand in the bunkers was consistent and each one played the same. The greens were all exceptional. They were in excellent shape, rolled true and looked beautiful. There are some tricky pin placements but nothing unfair.
The Landing course is a must play course in NC. A good fair test and balls hit well and kept in play will be rewarded with a good score.
The only drawback was the River course was closed and so the Landing was crowded. A large women's group in front of us kept the pace of play very slow. I'd love to play the Landing again when both courses are open.

Great practice facility, beautiful new clubhouse and friendly staff makes the round nice from the start. I played both courses and the Landing is more of a traditional NC course but all holes are well designed, have challenge, but fair. The sand traps are well maintained and have good consistent white sand. hole number 6 is special and has a great over the water approach. hole 8 is a nice long par 3 and demands a solid shot. Holes 12 and 13 are nicely laid out and fun. The Landing is very different from the River course and if you play both, you'll see the difference. The houses are not too close to the holes and the whole community seems very well designed. I'd play this course again for sure!!

My favorite in Eastern NC

I absolutely love River Landing. This is the jewel of eastern NC. I have played almost every course within 75 miles of this course and nothing and I mean nothing can touch it. It is a course that you need to play a couple of times casually before you play it seriously. Several of the holes have certain areas that you have to land the ball and you just can't determine where until you play it at least once. The course is beautiful and depending on the wetness the greens can be lightning fast at times. It's a first rate facility with concrete cart paths, spacious rest rooms and top notch golf. I haven't been in a couple of years to play there. I hope they don't destroy the course with houses being built all over it.
