Course Reviews

After being closed for nearly 2 years, the course has been re-opened for about 1 year. The course is being the process of being returned to its former glory. It isn't going to happen overnight, but the course is in better shape now than a year ago. And is better than it was a month ago. The back 9 is Donald Ross-designed and right now is in better shape overall, so if you are only going to play 9, I would recommend playing that side.
If you go into your round knowing the course is still a work in progress, you will have a great day. Plus for the value, it is great.

Decent value for the money. The greens were very rough, with grass missing in places. Staff did say there was going to be a hole by hole renovation starting this spring so maybe some of that will be resolved. Friendly staff and interesting layout.

Played Tuesday 6-17-2008. I never saw another player on the course. Fairly attractive course but not in real good condition. They were seeding the greens today which did not help. $12 to walk is a very good deal. I would play it again if I were in the area but it's not worth driving 110 miles round trip to play. Fairly short and fairly easy.

Good value with a degree of difficulty you would expect from a Donald Ross course. Greens were in decent shape for the time of year played. A good course to allow you to tune your game and use every club in your bag.

My only complaint would be the overall maintenance of the course. With some added TLC, this could be a really good course.

Greens are in great shape, the value is hard to beat, and the back 9 could challenge even a seasoned pro. Great sand hills golf

Nice course. Is is aptly named because there are pines trees everywhere! (I spent a lot of time in them on the front nine!) The course is in great shape. There are several water hazards on the back nine, but they are not difficult to deal with. It is a very walkable course and affordable. ($12 walking for 18 holes) I will go back!

Richmond Pines

Nice course. Well maintained fairways and greens. Quite a few short holes allow for some target golf but on most you can let the big dog eat.

Needs Work

The course layout is wide and open with very few trouble spots. This could be a very nice course for beginners and for anyone wanting an easy trouble free round. Unfortunately the course itself is in really, really bad shape. The greens look diseased, with bare patches, weeds and an assortment of bumps and lumps.

The fairways are choked with weeds and fairway shots that should require a 5 wood require a club that can cut through weeds. The good thing about playing a course in such a neglected condition is that you will learn to be creative with club and shot selection.

I don't know who is in charge of this course, but they have taken what could be a nice gentle course and turned it into something that makes you wish you could get your money back.
