Catawba Country Club, Newton, NC

I had the opportunity to play this course as part of the Western Peidmont Seniors group. The course was in incredible condition. THe fairways well manicured and the greens cut close. The greens were pretty firm....and fast...it took me awhle to get accustomed to them. One I did...they were great. I thought for the most part the fairways were generous and you could grip it and rip it on most holes. I played with smeone wo had played there before and that was very helpful as there are some holes where you need to know the yardage so you will know how much fairway you have or what the carry might be. The greens all tend to be elevated...so a little extra club is neccesary to get to them. All in all I loved the course....and would love the chance to give it another go.

This is a nice Donald Ross course. It is well maintained and has good amenities. If you enjoy walking while you play --- this is the course for you. The course is challenging but fair. The food is excellent! If you get a chance to have lunch and play the course ---- you will be happy you did.
