I play this course many times a year. In the years since Billy Casper has taken over management this course just keeps getting better and better. The conditions this past summer rivaled, or exceeded any other other course in the area. Greens were great as were the fairways and tees. Challenging layout, never boring, pretty place to play. Fun for all levels. Pro shop and snack bar are fine. Not luxurious, but fine. If they get the cart paths evened out. It would be outstanding.

Now a Billy Casper managed course.
Pro shop seemed to be closed in the afternoons, only one person there, not that friendly!
Ballwashers infrequent and often no water. Tee blocks very confusing, the back gold had been moved to a forward seniors level, you never really knew which tees you were playing unless you could find the official markers. Very few distance markers on the fairways (some sprinkler heads, but not all)
They were spraying something on the fairways when we played - no warnings, no signs about what they were pumping out!

We played under winter conditions, so maybe not a fair test. However, there were a lot of small issues that make it not worth going back.

Shoreline course closed so this is all there is at Fairfield. Staff is very nice. Recently, they adjusted rates so "outsiders" can play at same rate as locals. good value for the money. course is fair and doesn't punish you for decent shots. Greens could be better, but weather affects their condition. Enjoyed our stay and the rounds we played

Not a bad place to play with a little bit more maintenance it would be a great course no tricked up holes greens were a little slow but in good condition some fairways were higher than rough. Bunkers were wet but that was expected course recieved large amount of rain two days before. Really in good shape for the drought we are in. Would recommend it though.

Harbour Point golf course 03/07

I visited the Crystal Coast area with my cousin Bob (a retired Marine) from March 16th-23rd of 2007. Bob lived in New Bern for almost 30 years and recommended this course as one of his local favorites -(he also used to work there). Being that we were still in the off season, I didn't expect course conditions to be pristine. Most of the courses in this area DO NOT overseed their fairways, but DO their greens. Harbor Point was this way. Nonetheless, we really enjoyed this course. Tee shot placement is key here, with lots of trouble to be found for the bombers. Some fairways are pretty narrow and those that aren't have trouble for misplaced shots. The greens were in nice shape (considering the time of the year) and rolled pretty true. The bunkers were raked and well maintained. The course is well laid out and flows nicely. There is an appreciable distance between some of the greens and the following hole's tee box. I liked that alot, because it gave me time to regoup for the next hole, and it eliminated the back and forth, parallel holes feeling you get at some courses. It didn't feel like any of the holes were jammed in either. Even though this course plays through a development, you'll rarely find a yard, or see some schmo giving you the hairy eyeball from his back porch. You WILL find some nice views of the river on a couple of holes and lots of wildlife. My only regret was that we were unable to play the sister course (Shoreline) due to league play. Call ahead to check on availability. This course only cost us $25 with the golf card (BARGAIN!!!). The carts are electric (no g.p.s.) and well maintained too. In summary, I would highly recommend this course.

Fairfield Harbour Pointe Course

This is not a bombers course, driver is not needed on every hole. Several holes are tight and tree lined while some are bordered by marsh and wetlands. Evern though it is built through a development, houses rarely come into play, only on a couple holes. A good value and pace of play is good. Sand traps could use a little work.
