Wonderful course in immaculate conditon. Couldnt imagine a better value. Nice staff and aesthetically pleasing venue. Great experience and value.

Superb condition in October 2011. Greens roll true, fairways are in prime shape. Scenery is outstanding and pace of play is great. It's a thinker's course - position is much more important that distance off the tee. You'll use every club in your bag. All in all, a terrific place to play golf.

Great practice facilities with a water driving range - apparently to acclimate the player to the water which comes into play on nearly every hole. Take plenty of golf balls. The course was in good shape overall and I will definitely play it again if I'm in the area. My only complaint was the sandwich I ordered at the grill was terrible.

Aqua Range is pretty cool. Greens have been a little fuzzier than I prefer the last couple of times I have been. Overall a very good course, and management is very intentional to make sure you are enjoying your round.

take a lot of balls and leave the driver at HOME! Very fun course, and great natural layout! 48.00 on Sunday morning...not bad.

Decent course for Jackson area. Well maintained for a municipal course. Green were a little "beat up" and slow but not that bad. Some placement holes where driver was not the best choice from tee. Overall would play again if in Jackson.

Drop off your bag at the bag drop, you cant take the carts into the parking lot.
Bring yourself a bottle of water or Gatorade, the first water station is like on the fifth hole.
The club house has a pretty good pro shop with an attached grill in the back.
The course also has a little four hole kids course for free that is layed out pretty professionally.
Bring plenty of balls if you dont hit straight or have never played here before. Lots of hidden water areas that you may run into, and woods are everywhere.
The course is very nice, but the greens the day I played were a bit in rough shape (as well as the bunkers). Overall a three and a half for maintenance.
The layout is GREAT, this could be a top ranked course if maintenance was kept up better.
Every hole has personality, and each green is layed out well, no turtle backs.
I liked this course more than I ranked it based on potential, I will be playing here again. I will give them a try again in a few weeks and see if the maintenance has improved any, if so, I will post it here.

Very good value for the Jackson area. This is a tight course that plays about average length. It is typically in nice shape. Very nice for a municipal course.

Be ready to play your entire box of pro v1's. This course is great! Like someone else mentioned, the fair ways are very tight and water comes into play on a bunch of holes. I've play here a couple of times and enjoyed every minute of it. The course is kept in beautiful shape year round, and it even has a 3 hole wee links for the little ones. This is a must on your "To Play List", as a golfer.

Like bcblazer said, leave your driver at home and carry an extra wedge or hybrid. Tight fairways and water everywhere. If you've never played it, I'd suggest trying to get paired up with someone who has because a lot of the water hazards aren't visible from the tee box. But it's a great course and as has been said, is always in great shape. I've played it in the dead of winter and it was still in amazing shape.

Leave Your driver in the Car!

This course is great. The first time I ever played it I thought I would be super man and use my driver on the long par 5's. Seriously though, don't try to muscle up. Play it safe and stay short rather than trying to get over the water. The fairways and greens are in great shape right now. The guys over there have really done a good job maintaining it through the fall and winter. Overall it's a great course, and for the price you get so much more.

Thinker's Course

Although The Refuge is a fun course to play and the conditions are always impeccable, I would call it a “thinker’s course” requiring strategy and skill more than merely brute strength.

Best Bermuda Green in Jackson PLUS best Value!!

What a great little golf course! I'm a scratch golfer who plays all over the southeast and must say the greens last weekend (July 15, 2006) were some of the best bermuda greens I've ever putted. For $45 bucks with cart, you can't beat the value. Of course, at 6600 yards from the tips, its a short course, and for longer hitters, the course is too short and tight for a driver on most of the par 4's and even one of the par 5's (lots of water about 280 yards off the tee). Some of the tee boxes were a little firm, and there were a few wooded areas in need of pinestraw or mulch. But the quality of the greens helped you forget about all of that. I highly recommend this course if you're looking for somewhere convenient to play.
