The 9-hole "Woodlands" course at the Tapawingo National Golf Club facility in Saint Louis, Missouri features 3,520 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 36. Designed by Gary Player, the Woodlands golf course opened in 1994.
The course was very well maintained when I had our annual outing this year. Greens looked good considering it was a hot summer in Saint Louis. The rough is way too long this year and is unplayable for an avg. golfer. The guy who runs the tournaments at Tapawingo was very rude and unwilling to make adjustments on the fly. There is also this old guy with white hair and glasses who talks very loud and is rude to people, it doesnt seem like he knows much about golf either. I asked the Head Pro what kind of greens are on the course and he had to ask the assistant for help...kind of wierd. Besides those observations, I love the course it has so much potential but needs better management.
Nice course. Well designed and any player can pick his tee box too make it playable. Greens were fat and well maintained. It was not busy, as they seem to not have noticed dropping green fees due to economy.Young man at check in has been very surly both times I played here. Others always nice. Management needs to train the younger guys on customer interaction.The course itself is a delight despite a few crazy fairways mostly designed to be surrounded by high cost homesWill definitely return when I save up.
I am from out of town and have played this course about 10 times. The staff is great, the rental clubs are usually new Cobras, and the course is very well maintained. I can easily play as a single in about 3.5 hours. Really enjoy this course.
