Jack Wawro...greatest pro to ever stick a tee in the ground!!!

Jackson Wawro, head professional of this fine establishment, took the time from his hectic schedule to kick around a few holes with me and my buddy from Georgia. In all my years on the links, I have never played with such a great striker of the ball. Palmer was great, Nicklaus was awesome, but WAWRO IS DA MAN !!!!!

The big names play here.

One late afternoon in the fall, with very few people on the course, we played golf with Michael Jordan, Richard Dent, and Charles Oakley.
This is a do not miss course if you are traveling to Brainard and you have the bucks. You will love this course if you have a good game. You will know by the end of the round if you have a good game. For those that have over judged their game or just do not have it, make sure you bring several dozen golf balls. But do not worry, the walk in the park with this scenery is worth the trip. I play this course about a dozen times a year.

Do not fall for all the hype.

The three 9 hole courses at the Pines of Grand View Logde are very poor courses. There has been much hype regarding the Pines, but it is all false in my opinion. I rated the course as a 5 on the difficulty, and that is only because the course designer did such a poor job that one is forced to make stupid shots. For example, one of the par 4's requires a 6 iron shot from the tee becuase anything more would run through the dog leg. The shot left into the green is a 3 or 4 iron. Very poor disign on the majority of the holes. Unnecessary trees are evident on some holes right in the middle of the fairway. The back tees are almost impossible to play from, as there are tree limbs hanging in way of the ball's path. Overall, the course is poorly disigned, poorly maintained, and overly hyped. If you want to play a good Grand View Logde course, don't waste your money at the Pines, but go to the Preserve or Deacon's Lodge instead.
