18 hole regulation length course
72 par | 6,690 yards
The 18-hole "Lake Erie" course at the Links At Lake Erie facility in Monroe, Michigan features 6,690 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72. Designed by Scott Thacker, the Lake Erie golf course opened in 1998.
My wife and I are traveling by RV. We have played golf in 7 states this summer. This course's management was the worst we have experienced. It is the only round we have played that took more than 5 hours. That is easily explained. There was a group of 10 "gentlemen" that had come to play that afternoon. They left the 1st tee as a twosome followed by 2 foursomes. At he second tee the twosome joined one of the foursomes to make a sixsome. This prompted an immediate complaint to the pro shop. They broke up the sixsome and played the front properly. At the turn all 5 carts were there getting food and course cooler bags full of beer. They left the 10th tee as 3 groups like they had left the 1st tee. On the 11th tee they were back to a sixsome and a foursome. Again we called the pro shop. The person who answered the phone assured us he would break up the sixsome or have them allow us to play thru. Neither happened. After enduring the 5 plus hour round we complained at the pro shop and the only response we received was "Gee I'm sorry. I asked them to break up." Not an acceptable response from a golf course representative. Our recommendation is that if you are traveling like we do, you do not consider this course for play. There are many similar courses in the Monroe area.
the last two times I played, I had problems. the first, the groundkeeper wouldn't move aside to let me hit (he said he could avoid my ball if it was near). the second due to weather they was allowing play on one nine and did not tell me when I made reservation.
My friends and I call this place "Planes, Trains & Automobiles" I like it mostly because it's not too busy and the maintanience is good.
The course is in great condition and the greens are as good as you'll find in south Michigan. A great value, very playable with risk/reward holes - especially the par 5's. I highly recommend!
Nice open layout, not too difficult for the average player. Course in nice condition. Plenty of water, especially on the back 9. Great value.
