The 9-hole "Pines" course at the The Pines At Fairview facility in Mio, Michigan features 3,200 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 36. Designed by Fred Kuffman, the Pines golf course opened in 1969.
A very nice little course. I'm going by what most other people would think as far as difficulty because I suck at golf (so far), but it's a really gorgeous course in the heart of Northern Michigan. Extremely great value at $20-$30 per round, but it's only 9 holes. Holes 2 and 3 offer a beautiful 6-10 mile view of northern Michigan forests while the rest of the course has beautiful ponds and scenic willows. Not a very isolated feeling since the holes are sort of crammed in there, but some require very challenging shots. The clubhouse/pro shop is very small, but there is a driving range and putting green. Don't plan an entire trip around this course, but if you happen to be in the Mio-Fairview area, this course is one you won't want to miss.
